Caput Mortuum has a gruesome history. Back in time when Europeans didn't have any qualms digging up mummies in Egypt and transporting them to their home countries they litterally used to grind some of them up into pigments. That practice thankfully belongs to the past, but I still am wary of that colour, which is ridiculous, of course. ;) Love your swatching! Where I live Daniel Smith is very expensive, so I prefer to go with Schmincke which is readily available in every art shop. Have been playing with some of Schmincke's super granulating colours and really like them. Thank you for taking the time to swatch all those beautiful colours and to share them with your viewers. :D

I love this (pretty creepy) back story. And DS can be pretty hard on your wallet when buying outside of the US, that's for sure! Schmincke also has lovely paints and the super granulating range has some gems in there. I do swatch out this palette more close up after viewer request, you'll also find that footage on my channel. Enjoy ❤️

I seem to be at a point in my W/C journey where suddenly GRANULATION is the focus of my learning. Thank you for contributing useful and well presented information. Forge onward into Schminke's granulating line-up. I am ready to receive, appreciate and use all you can share. Planning to curate a collection into one palette now I've seen yours.

Your explanations of all the granulation colors has blown me away! Thanks for this enlightenment! I hope to find more of your KZbin videos in the future… (I don’t use the social networks like Instagram and such)

Beautiful palette. I’m still trying to justify buying more expensive paints, but I love granulating paints, but I don’t need them, but I want them….

I'm surprised that DS Moonglow didn't make it into this palette. I definitely see a couple that I am going to add to my Wishlist.

Schminke’s potter’s pink is much easier to rewet btw

Oh thanks Weekend! I'll keep that in mind when I run out of the DS potters pink. I did just buy a 15 ml tube though *sad

Thanks very much for a really great video. I'm particularly attracted to the Tundra pink, orange and violet. That version of Potter's pink has really granulated, wow! The name Capuut Mortem is what the Romans used to call dried blood and I'm presuming that the pigment was called that due to its colour. You're in northern Europe, Sweden? I'm in England and have just subscribed to your great channel. Take care. XX

If a paint is stubborn to rewet, I simply use it out of the tube. Problem solved.

True but sometimes it causes me to pour out more than I need and then I waste precious paint. But its a good tip

@@myfantasticalimaginarium1890 didn't mean to be rude but I would LOVE a big swatching of your lovely granulating paints - you can't experience the beauty when it isn't big and luscious! Helen x
