Have you ever wondered how artists make their drawings look like they’re floating in mid-air? The secret lies in perspective! In this video, we explore how one-point, two-point, and three-point perspective work together to create stunning 3D illusions.
📐 Step 1: One-Point Perspective
When looking at an object straight on, all depth lines converge to a single vanishing point. This technique is perfect for drawing objects that face you directly.
➡️ First, we draw a horizontal line as our horizon (0:23).
➡️ Then, we add a vanishing point (0:39).
➡️ Connecting the corners of our cube to the vanishing point defines its depth (0:47).
➡️ In one-point perspective, only depth lines lead to the vanishing point, while horizontal and vertical lines stay the same (1:02).
🏗️ Step 2: Two-Point Perspective
If the object is not parallel to us, we need two vanishing points. This method creates a more dynamic and realistic 3D effect.
➡️ We start by drawing just the edge of our cube (1:30).
➡️ Adding two vanishing points determines how the cube extends into space (1:36).
➡️ Connecting both ends of the edge to each vanishing point creates the cube’s shape (1:48).
➡️ Finally, we define the rear corners and complete the structure (2:07).
✨ Step 3: Three-Point Perspective - The Magic Trick!
Now it gets even more interesting! In three-point perspective, there are no straight horizontal or vertical lines. Instead, all edges converge toward three vanishing points, creating an extreme 3D effect-like looking up at a skyscraper!
➡️ We begin by placing the first two vanishing points as before (2:38).
➡️ Then, we add a third vanishing point, which makes the object appear taller or deeper (2:48).
➡️ By connecting all the edges to the three points, we complete the structure (2:58, 3:10).
🌑 Step 4: Enhancing the 3D Illusion
To make our floating cube even more realistic:
✔️ Shading adds depth and dimension (4:30).
✔️ A shadow underneath creates the illusion that the cube is floating above the paper (4:58).
✂️ Step 5: The Final Trick - Cutting the Paper
This is where the magic happens! By carefully cutting out the top half of the cube, we create a real-world optical illusion (5:13).
Finally, when filmed from a very low angle, the cube appears to float in the air! 🎥 (5:49-6:01)
🔹 Try it yourself! Draw, cut, and amaze your friends with this incredible 3D illusion! ✨
