Never understood why more brands don't use sweeping quartz more often. A lot of ppl shy away from quartz bc they don't like how the ticking looks. Sweeping quartz takes care of that, and annoying servicing costs associate with automatic watches.

I think people who want quartz aren't bothered about the sweep. They want accuracy and battery life instead.
@C.C._TJ_Jason9 күн бұрын
@@JustOneMoreWatchI agree with you. I don’t care about the sweep at all. I get tired of resetting the time with my mechanicals. So I wear a CWC Sea Falcon and a Christopher Ward Valour for nearly everything now, both quartzes and neither of these sacrifice battery life for the visual sweep.

As a diehard quartz devotee, I REEEAAALLLY wish they would sweep. Especially mega-smooth a la Precisionist. Or at least like Seiko mechaquartz. I'll grudgingly deal with the 1-tick per second thing, if I must, for Eco-Drive. I'm DYING for the day of the Eco-Drive Precisionist Perpetual Calendar!!! @@JustOneMoreWatchfor me (as part of my 80+ watch collection including quartz, mecha-quartz, mechanical and automatic) the benefit of quartz, and in particular mecha-quartz, is about a few things 1) price - often a look/style for less, 2) grab and go versatility and 3) mecha-quartz eliminates the annoyance of many quartz watch hands missing the markers. As a 4th) on the side I do like the smooth sweep better than that of a plain quartz. To actually accurately time something I am using something else besides a watch, plus the downside of battery life is the cost when you have to replace multiple watch batteries at once.

ETA's Precidrive movement datasheet has +/-10 sec/ yr as *typical*, the timekeeping spread can get up to 76 sec/yr on their data sheet for the widest temp range. For more typical temperature conditions, it's +/- 26 sec/yr. One of my Certinas is +18/yr, the other is +24 sec/yr. That's really good but not what their marketing claims.

Amongst the watch nerd community this is already underway for sure. I have quite a few pieces now, including a couple of mechaquartz chronos, smooth-sweep tool watches and a Bulova precisionist. If you have a box full of timepieces, especially with dates and more, it's nice to have them still working and accurate when you pick them up after a week or so. The smooth sweep movements make this a lot more palatable though. I'm sorry but there's still no way I'm paying $500 for an electric ticker. I'm really quite interested in a big moon complication (an ACCURATE one, not a date wheel in fancy-dress! I'm looking at you, Chinese brands...) or even a perpetual calendar that's powered by a quartz engine. I'll also add that if you're gonna go quartz you might as well go Japanese. The Swiss are hardly known for their prowess in this area.

I love quartz watches, but in this price range I expect solar and radio/bluetooth/gps atomic clock … The dial colours are boring, the mismatch in finish of the bracelet is would forgive in a sub 100,-€ Casio, but not in a 500,-€ watch! So in total it is a complete overprice NoGo for me!

I actually really like that celebration style dial. More companies should be looking at quartz both single tick and high frequency. Also love the shirt

Heya Jodi.....In countries with daylight saving time you'll be adjusting it twice a year, which means your watch will never be out by more than 5 seconds. Nice!

Tissot made a 40mm dive watch with that movement for way cheaper. This clasp spanks Tissots clasp though (I have the Tissot). But the Tissot is such a delight grab and go watch that can take a beating (I'm a firefighter/paramedic). It's thin for a dive watch also.

We need a movement maker to recreate the Lemania 5100's functionality in high-accuracy quartz.

I love the push button micro-adjust, what a great idea. P.S. Looking forward to one of those 300 Erebus quartzes! I've got my fingers crossed for a GADA!
