What brush blade trimmer do you prefer? The loop handle or bicycle handle, and why?

A no brainer. It's the bicycle for me. You just have more stability. I do swing the left handle down to my hip for added stability. I have used this brush cutter and the 400 SRN for years. A beast of a machine.

I have used this same model for about 4 years. 80 tooth carbide blades work great for trees up to 3 inches just be careful to not get them pinched. For grass and stringy brush the tri-blade works best. This thing is a real beast! I wear chain saw stirrups along with the harness and head gear when operating.

I noticed some blade pinching. If I cut at a slight angle, it works better. If I'm cutting in areas with the chainsaw blade, then I'll probably wear chaps.

I have used this and it's immediate predecessor for years. I use 7 1/4 inch saw blades with an adapter. I use it a lot to cut small trees, up to 6 inches in diameter, and limbs from the edge of my fields. I turn the left handle to rest on my hip. Gives me more stability. This is an awesome machine for keeping up your property.

Thanks for the video. I was blessed to be able to get this 2 years ago and it is awesome. The 80 tooth blade wasn't the greatest as it went dull quick but the knife blade has been great, it actually cut small trees better than the 80 toothblade. Even better when it comes to pond cleanups that have thick high grass, I took the trimmer head from the pas 2620 and put it on it, and it makes weedeating twice as powerful and makes it look cleaner and saves the time from having to pick the grass up.

You bet and thanks for sharing. I've done some pond clearing like you're talking about and think a trimmer head works well, especially if you maintain it often. ECHO also make a larger trimmer head, the Speedfeed 450 which uses thicker .130 line. It might be worth considering for the thicker stuff. I haven't used it yet, but probably will someday.

Thank you for the great review/demo. I just finished assembling mine and look forward to using it. I was using the Stihl FS-70 RC in my brush cutting videos. But, it's only 27.2 cc. Therefore, I upgraded to 410u before I burn out the FS-70. You're right about that harness! I found it a bit confusing to put on, but managed it. Home Depot has the upgraded harness.

You're welcome, sounds like a nice upgrade for you. If I ever get the upgraded harness, I'll make a quick video about it.

@MarkThomasBuilder i just got mine, and i assembled it. Im in LOVE with this 44 cc engine. But let me ask you a question. The shaft i got was not detachable at the halfway point to install alternative attachments like weed eater, cultivator, pruner, etc. If i bought a separate attachment-capable shaft from echo... it should be compatible with this engine, right?

The review doesn't really adequately demonstrate the power and usefulness of the machine. I had the original 400U and now have the 410U. I cut limbs and small trees around the outside of fields on my farm with it primarily. First, take of the blade guard and get a some carbide blades. With that, you can cut a 6 inch tree's done to ground level if your practiced at back cutting. You can go through 2 and 3" saplings like butter. When you get experienced and know how to easily turn and hold the saw, you can easily limb a tree up to around 10 feet. A tip is, don't try and force the saw into the wood. If the saw wants to kick out because of poor placement of the blade or whatever, let it.. Another tip is cut bigger trees a couple of feet up. After felling, cut the rest at ground level. If you don't want it to grow again, put full strength roundup or crossbow on the stump immediately. Also, you don't need too many teeth on the blade. I use 24 teeth and it works best. Forget the weed cutting. It is not a very good use for the machine though it can do it. Hope this helps you to understand what can be done with this terrific machine.

It's from the European market and not available in the states. ECHO also makes a 80cc chainsaw that's only available in South America. You may be able to pick one up from eBay I'm guessing.
