7:28 idk, I think it would have made a huge difference. At the very least, you get bolted and helixed down to 2, while the opponent doesn't have a board from damnation. Next turn, play shelly, cruise, maybe draw with ring depending on the untapped land, gain 8, and you're good to go

Seeing Roxanne player struggle deciding which of the 3 cards to exile, i would have without a thought forced them to exile all cards by +1 with the other bolas. You know that last card was going to be juicy.

Here is why commandeer works for those interested from gatherer: After Commandeer resolves, you control the targeted spell. Any instance of "you" in that spell's text now refers to you, "an opponent" refers to one of your opponents, and so on. The change of control happens before new targets are chosen, so any targeting restrictions such as "target opponent" or "target creature you control" are now made in reference to you, not the spell's original controller. You may either change those targets to be legal in reference to you, or, if those are the spell's only targets, the spell doesn't resolve for having illegal targets. When the spell resolves, any illegal targets are unaffected by it and you make all decisions the spell's effect calls for.

About the Commandeer at 28:00 I didn't know. I thought it'd fizzle because it says "target creature you control", and you had no valid targets, but I also thought that the fact you had no valid creature might fizzle Commandeer altogether (because you tried to change a spell's targets and had no valid targets to switch to)

Commandeer's target changes are optional. Even if CGB had a creature, he could still fizzle the bite by declining to change the targets.

​@@LordZurkov It's because of that "may" that I was confused. What happens if I don't/can't change targets wasn't explicit enough, but I got it after thinking it through. I got how it works in the background after some thought. In being unable to change targets, the spell keeps its initial targets. Because those targets are now invalid because of the controller change, the spell fizzles. Edit: Part of the misunderstanding comes from the fact I learned Magic from a time when targeting was done as a spell resolved, not as it was cast, and that mechanic actively won tournaments (I remember a Circle of Protection being destroyed by someone's own Disenchant because an Goblin with a really large Endless Scream on it was sac'd as the Disenchant resolved)

6:35 Yea bro against anim I would’ve played the one ring got the protecting let them develop their board and empty their hand casting damnation the next turn for maximum effect that way they only are holding the 2 burn spells so they have to either discard one of the burn spells or lose the 3/1 either way putting you out of leathel and getting you to next turn casting sheoldred and using the one ring for life gain always try to maximize board wipe effectiveness if you can stall it as long as possible and get those cards out of their hand

27:31 I think you have the resolution incorrect. According to Gatherer, as soon as you took control of the spell, it changes all definitions of “you” to “the player who cast Commandeer”. Because CGB had no creatures as legal targets to put the +1/+1 on, the second part of the clause fizzles (the fight), and effectively nothing happened. (Not a judge)
