41 YO Dad of 2 here... I do most of my riding starting around 4-4:30 and without eating. Unless I am planning to hit at least 2.5-3hrs of riding I don't worry about fuel until I am done. Been doing this for years. We all do what we can do. I want to be done riding by the time the family is ready to do things with me.

6 hours is very doable, you just have to get very comfortable with the plan going out of the window, especially for the first few months. I’m not claiming to be at your level (I started biking October 22 after watching some of your Souther XC vids), but I do have lots of experience with trying to squeeze in training with a baby, give me a shout if you have any questions

🙌 that’s what I am worried about… the plan going out the window 😂 I like to have things set and know what I’m doing but I guess I will have to adapt and just do what I can, I’m expecting a drop in fitness but hoping with some intensity I can maintain a bit of top end 😬

@@GiorgioCoppolaCycling Plan's changing is the biggest thing you'll have to adjust to. The other big one is carving out time for the Rocket! Early mornings on the bike mean early bedtime, and rather than chilling together in the eve's it'll be spending time with the little one and bath-times etc. Easy to not spend quality time together when you have all of those competing forces! Not easy going dude but provided you're happy to adapt things and not get too knocked off course by a setback (mine had two awful nights last week which stopped me getting on the bike for instance) then you'll squeeze 6h's+ in especially with your level of motivation!

What's the youngest age group for cx? Is there an under twos? Maybe pick a race or two now and target a womb-based training plan so the rider has a good endurance base for the early season when they're born. Should probably get them some sponsorship too... 😃
