It's sad that it took an outside media journalist to motivate the UCI to act. They were dragging their feet on it and hoping it would fade away. But they ruled on the men's issue quickly.

I'd ban the athletes for at least 2 years, maybe 4, and I'd disqualify the whole team from that event, because that is systemic cheating.

This event was around October/November 2023 i believe. Very happy for Lou, excellent forensics, also quite lucky to capture the specific evidence as the GoPro batteries only last about an hour.

I have another example of an italian banned for 6 years after being caught stealing epo via a hospital, selling and using. He appealed and was reduced to 4 years. Xx started racing worlds the year he returned and either he’s very talented or still doing as I go to altitude and still finished 4th twice to him and his 2 italian friends. Testing needed please.

So I use to race a lot of the Super Enduro races in Italy and a lot of the liaison stages were brutal. Race a stage and then have an hour to get to the next stage. I remember Italians on mopeds hiding with tow ropes waiting to pull riders.

Bike races and cheating have a history almost as old as the bike itself! Although there are hints(carvings in Indian temples) that in India people knew bikes already 1500 years ago!

Unfortunately this is a story as old as time. Did Haute Route a number of years back and on one of the climbs multiple people including myself watched a Russian team’s van towing multiple riders up the climb. Multiple people to organizers and were told we need video proof and did nothing about it.

cheating is riding in a peleton, or a pace line or drafting, to get a KOM or a better time/PR, roadies do that all the time on every occasion :/
