Raced the first 2 weeks of these and couldn’t get a spot for the final 2 weeks so a shame to miss you! Great event, really well organised and run. Think a large part of it is the ability to easily draw people from London and have a safe TT without needing to travel too far to get there. V friendly atmosphere and welcoming which helps the popularity and accessibility. Would love to see a monthly series or something Lee Valley could look at organising as well

Awesome video! Really impressed with the way you chat with everyone and let the youngsters (and just the average riders) know they are really important. You are a great ambassador for the sport in general! If you're down in Devon again this year, try calling in for the Poole Wheelers 10 on a Wednesday evening for a club 10 on a safe road course that is really well supported and really friendly....

The “old” Eastway circuit used to host Tuesday night 10s all through the summer months. Those races were always well attended although you could entry on the line. Great to see the resurgence of road bikes in TTs, even back in the early 90s the ratio was more like 90% aero bars against 10% classic road bike. Good luck at the Nationals.

I'm super impressed with this idea, and the way you break down the walls to pro cyclists by interviewing the other riders. For most amateurs, meeting pro cyclists is very intimidating. Like when Gearing came to Auckland and rode with local shop riders, he was a great ambassador for the sport, and that's how most of us see you. You've been terrific for the sport, both during, and definitely since retiring. Keep up the great work.

I love the comparison to Parkrun. When thinking about what Parkrun has done for running participation levels, something similar would be incredible for cycling and the TT scene in particular which really needs a boost in participation at the moment. Makes you wonder what is possible.
@AlexDowsettOfficial Жыл бұрын
It’s the club 10, a lot of clubs have them on mid week evenings on quiet roads, couple of quid entry to keep the club alive. Nothing globally organised though sadly and I don’t know how that’d work with open roads
@stu09 Жыл бұрын
@@AlexDowsettOfficial Yeah, club 10s are brill, but sadly don’t seem to appeal on the same level as say a Parkrun - possibly still too many barriers, safety on the open roads probably one of the bigger ones? Would be incredible to have regular Parkrun-esque TTs; closed circuits, free to enter, totally open/inclusive irrespective of background, equipment, ability etc, points scored for every one you complete, rewards for milestones etc. Run them at cycle parks, racing tracks, go-kart tracks, airfields etc. Would need some hefty financial backing, but so does Parkrun. Just needs somebody influential to spearhead the movement! ;)

I’ve got a big head, if I wear the visor it scratches my eyeballs and thankfully on me no visor is faster. The tempor is fast, but it is (clue is in the name) temporamental, slightly out of place on me and I may as well wear a ventilated road helmet. Worth noting this is specific to me, some see huge gains, and better resilience to movement, I don’t. Onto a poc procen now so I can look around a bit more 😂

My TT series is dwindling where I am, and the aero categories are even less competitive than ever before. The cost of entry into TT is too high, if you don't have an "old" rim brake bike already you're done. So, the non-aero categories are now competitive. And what's more fun, the fastest times there are done by people on regular road bikes, nothing super aero/cheater style. I'm riding my rim brake tt into the ground.
