I’m from dauphin , now living in Victoria, it does not surprise me at all that people are keeping this as private as possible

Condolences to the families. I see the double standards here. When Humboldt crash happened the driver of the truck was on the news for years , what about the driver of the bus here?? We dont even know his name or identity and he is guilty as the truck driver of the Humboldt accident.

I drove long distance back in the eighties and early nineties. There was hardly a day where I didn't have to hit the brakes hard or maneuver somehow to avoid a accident like this. Lots of close calls like this happen every day probably more than ever.

Accident was on the trans canada highway not a quit rural highway and it happened near Carberry not dauphin. About two hours away.

I'm a retired professional driver of not just trucks but busses too. I've passed through this very intersection and countless ones like it more times than I can count and every time I did, if I saw a vehicle waiting to cross, I had my heart in my throat and my foot over the brake. You'd think - "how in God's name could you not see a great big truck coming at you on a flat stretch of road on a clear day?" My answer - you'd be surprised at just how easy it is! I don't know if it was a factor or not but one thing I will say is that the sight lines on those damned busses are absolutely gawd awful! I found myself on more than one occasion, having to slide out of my seat onto the floor on my knee to be able to see out the right side windows. I absolutely f*cking HATE those mini busses!

This is nuts to have a level crossing on a highway. Trains do ever thing, or least try, to make an an accident not happen. We should look to them to prevent tragedies like this.

It sure looks like a double standard being applied here, the bottom line is the driver did not stop or yield

The only detail that counts is that this accident involves people who aren't in the 'special and important' category reserved for some athletes and a selection of others.

What a disrespectful comment about people that have died and communities that have grieved in their own way. I can't say whether the bus driver from Dauphin was criminally negligent, but he was responsible because he did not have the right of way. Whereas the truck driver that hit the Humboldt bus also did not have the right of way. Thats clearly another main difference.

facts you say are all wrong look at both truck front end it’s fibreglass it’s easy to tell who hit who in both accidents just by looking at nose of both trucks
