Tanner from Serpa Design is an excelent source of knowledge when it comes to vivarium and pauladarium builds ....just watching his videos may give you some amazing ideas on what you can do ....I learned so much from watching his videos and its inspired me to re-do all of my enclosures..... No matter what im sure you will figure out what to do, and its going to turn out beautifully. I cant wait to see the outcome of it , i also cant wait to see which animals will get to enjoy the enclosure. Every build people do they make mistakes or do things they will wish they couldve done differently ....every build you do u learn so much from and become better and better each time .....your really going all out with this one! I hope one day I have the space to do something that big

I've been waiting for this paludarium build for so long! I'm so excited! It's looking great so far. The one thing I will point out is that I don't like those 2 big black plates you screwed to the top because they cover so much. I think you should either have glass panels, or just removal those support bars and just have even bigger doors.

I came here to see how many people said it, I understand your lighting reasons but you put so much work in, I would hate for you to hide a huge portion. Making that part transparent and angling the lights or building very small black guards around them would be way more visually appealing.
@olivierl21722 жыл бұрын
I also had this thought, they look very large to me. Of course I understand their purpose. Let's see the future progress of this build, maybe they will make more sense later, or worst case you could swap them out with something smaller.

Maybe you could get in contact with Tropica or Denerle as they sponsor/provide plants to a bunch of KZbinrs. I thought the tiers were going to be planter beds that were going to hold the substrate. If it was up to me I would make the bigger part at the bottom (LHS) the water area, and the right, a hidden area for the pumps, but I just like a bigger water area.

Wonderful; thank you for the update! Seeing as this will be a huge paludarium definitely highly recommend making a 'false bottom'. This will help prevent mold growth at the base of the substrate. Like, you know how Exotics Lair is always mixing his substrate to try to kill mushrooms? That's what a false bottom can defend against.

Your (and your Dad's) hard work is paying off, it's already looking impressive. I saw an earlier comment about the black boards you put in at the top - I too thought it detracts a bit from the overall look. Maybe clear panels would be better, but I'm assuming that the black ones are hiding lighting, etc? Regardless, I am super excited to see it finished and agree, it's going to look awesome.

Amazing achievement...🥰🥰🥰 there are a lot of amazing youtoubers around the palludarium scene that you can find some inspiration or just solution for your problems. Quess in this huge measure you will have some along the way. I would probably set a theme. Enviroment thtat is suitable for water creatures aswell as for land or both. I would go probably fod mangrove palludarium. That looks amazing. You can still proceed this as a mixture. As long there is humidity and light the plants will prosper. It depends on what you like or prefere. What my concern is is the ventilation. There will be a lot of condened water that you have to pump out from the basement. You are not able to airtight the whole palludarium. It will affect the whole enviromemt that you have your tarantulas in. You have a lot of dry walls around and furniture that will be affected. I would probably check that before i set my mind on something. This can bacfire...

Poor Petko. Next time, you can do the whole spreading thing by holding the trowel at a 30 degree angle and then leaning it against the bricks and spreading upwards. The thin mixture part can be accomplished with a pair of rubber gloves and a flat, flexible piece of silicone. Easy to literally slap it on. Also, you needed a silicone barrier between the concrete and substrate to prevent the moisture "wicking" that the paludarium is going to generate. I recommend doing that at some point. Otherwise you will have seemingly inexplicable water rot inside the walls and in the gaps between the structure and floor. It's just what water does. Sorry, mate.
