It is obvious he respects the dog more than he does the girl. She seems to do a good job with the Dobe, but needs to give more direct answers to him and just keep talking over him. Let her work speak for itself. That will calm him down IMO...

I had a male Dobermann called Alby, about the size of this one back in the 80s. He weighed 46kgs & was a ball of muscle. Such great dogs. People used to cross the street when they saw us walking along the footpath 😂 I had to have him put down when he was 9 years old due to his spine pressing on his spinal cord & he couldn't walk. It's fairly common in big dogs but I forget the medical term for it.

Got a dobe myself, nearly 1 now and he's 28in to the shoulders and 40kg. Hes a pain in the backside, but I love him to bits! ❤ Never barks at other dogs or people when walking (only stares), but guards the house and barks when people/animals walk past or near our driveway, perfect in that sense for a guard dog. Has an extremly strong prey drive though for wild animals, loves to play rough too. Not sure I would recommend one unless you know what you're in for though...

@@lunatheleo Its a double edged sword. My last two Dobes I left the ears uncropped here in the U.S. where it is optional...I have to tell you I had to clean their ears out constantly because Dobes LOVE rolling on the ground to scratch their backs and all sorts of dirt and dust get down in their ears with the wax and when they are cropped it is exposed to more air. They are have much more ear infections. Even my Vet admitted that uncropped get infected much more. The reason they used to crop tails is that sentry and guard dogs (and fighting dogs) would bite each other's ears and tails off in fights, or get them bitten by wild animals, and mostly from getting stepped on or run over while working pulling carts, herding, or slammed or yanked doings sentry work. People used to slam the door on Dobermann when he was collecting taxes or grab his dog's tails. Also their was once a tail tax where each owner in Germany paid a tax on every tail counted by the tax collector. Herr Dobermann, a tax collector and a fan of the Rottie (base stock for the Dobe) and his eventual Dobe, made sure the tails were docked for safety and financial reasons.

@@lunatheleo That is a non sequitur. For you non-lawyers, something can be illegal and not be morally wrong. It's called mala prohibita. Its wrong because the state or kings says it is. As opposed to something like murder, which is morally and legally wrong. But just because something is against the law does not mean it is "wrong," it is merely against code in some state, island, or country.

I just had one that I rescued from the local shelter as a 11 month old. He lived 12 years. That is long for a Dobe. We believe he was half European lines and half American lines. I base that on the fact that I owned a German line Doberman (by the dog's sire) and an American (Kimbertral kennals) as well as a large American back in the 1990s (back then they called them Warlocks or Kings). And by large I mean he was enormous (125-30 pounds and 29.5 inches at the shoulder). This dog Banzai that lived to 12 years weighed around 94 or 95 pounds in his prime and was very healthy overall. I was very fortunate. Cardiomyopathy is very prevelant among Dobes and Golden Retrievers and Irish Setters these days. He was genetically lucky. However, I saw a video where they tracked genetics and those Dobes who were American and European lines mixed (1st generation) lived on avg 1 full year longer than those from Euro or American lines alone. Its like both lines are saturated and by crossing you diminish the chances. I also gave my boy plenty of Taurine and mixed his kibble with protein and vegatables. I still miss him so...he was my dear friend.

I like Dobermans but living in Canada they aren’t winter hardy enough for my family. And that’s why we’ve had Rottweilers for 24 years! I’m the end the thickness of the Rottweiler appeals as well. Sadly breeding has reduced their lifespans as well. Regardless black and tan is a great colour scheme on a couple of great dog breeds!

I live in a safe suburb. I rather use guns, surveillance, security guards and the police as protection. Also no dog can protect me from the biggest threat: banks, corporations and woke culture 🤣. We are past the hunter/gatherer era.

@@jz4057 my Dobermans were wonderful companions, but as a general rule when out and about with them fewer unknown people approached me when with the dogs. They are natural protectors to their owners and when was the last time a security guard or police officer around when you were out on a walk. The lunatics aren’t just in cities. They are in suburbs and small towns as well. As a small woman I didn’t feel I had to carry pepper spray out walking any of my dobies. As for the woke delusional people that’s an entirely different kettle of fish. A dead smelly one for certain.
@jz4057
@jz4057 2 ай бұрын
@@gabesmom29 I agree hundred percent. I also rely on my Doberman to scare off small time crooks when we are out on a walk or simply barking at whomever was outside my door making unusual noises. What I mean was that his protective instincts and bite power do not weaken or diminish just because his ears are not posted. He can still take someone’s arm off in one bite regardless of his appearance and that’s what makes me feel safe home alone 😊. He’s not my first Dobbie. I grew up with German shepherds and Rottweilers, but I love Dobermans so much that once I’ve had one, I could never go back.

I specialize only in dobermanns= woman without taste. After 25 years of dobermanns, I went away from the breed and never looked back in 2012. They are nervous, unhealthy dogs without true working drives. And now, in Eu (or anywhere in the world), if you crop their ears and tails, you have a mix breed because the standard of the breed has changed. Malis and GSDs are the real dogs, more beautiful and with a lot of character.

India uses Dobes in law enforcement and military. Many southern hemisphere countries do. Dobermans bond too strongly with one person. It worked in the jungles during WWII in Guam. Look up Marine Devil Dogs. They even built a Memorial to the Dobermans on that Island. Not only that, the Doberman came out ahead on every test prior to the Marines using them over the other working breeds. You have no idea what you are talking about. The problem arises due to the fact that dogs like the Shepard can work with more than one trainer. Mals are used because they are smaller than Dobes or Sheps and therefore can get in and out of tight spaces. Their downside is that their prey drive is off the chart. Very hard to focus them when small vermin are in the area or an animal is nearby. I trained dogs for 3 decades. I worked with all 3. The Doberman is usually the strongest of these 3 breeds, but their are exceptions. All 3 are althletic, but an in shape Doberman is a breathtaking combination of power and speed and can be tightly wound if not exercised properly, and this takes a very good handler. The Army and Police could not assure this like the Marine Corp or the US Coast Guard could, so they do not use Dobermans.
