Nobody ever describes the actual mechanics of the explosion. Our explosions on Earth are caused by violent chemical reactions causing gas expansion or release of nuclear energy. Obviously novas are not chemical reactions. The cannot be nuclear from your star model with iron core either. So what causes the explosion?
