Here in west Texas I am fighting the 100 degree heat with just two raised gardens. I have them covered with shade cloth. I've been to Michigan and Ohio and I love seeing all the corn fields and soy beans.Good luck with your gardens. It's a lot of work. I really enjoy watching the progress you have made.

From the mowings of the lawn grass it will be fine enough to make silage out of it. The pigs will love it and the goats you may have to sprinkle a little grain on it until they are used to it. God Bless Joe

Dude, No one on youtube has more determination than you = A+! You are going to have more zucchini than there are people to eat it! Hope the chickens like it! Grass=milk cow!!! Have you ever read any of Joel Salatin's books? I'm not so sure about your methods, but I really like you! You are the true meaning of the phrase "Go for it!"

I enjoy watching your videos. I saw how your green peppers didn't germinate well, I used to have that problem. Now I just put my pepper seeds (from the fruit) into the compost bin and the seeds come up on their own. Only one problem, I don't know for sure what kind of pepper it is until the plant fruits. But I like those surprise volunteer plants. Good luck with your next attempt on germinating pepper seeds.

Good evening, really like your videos. They’re simple and you don’t try to hide the non-glamorous parts of gardening/farming! Quick question; are you worried about E-coli and others bugs with compost that is not fully aged? Thank you for the videos and have a great memorial day weekend next week.

Since it is all from our farm here we are able to control all that goes into it. Also, it will be still another month before we harvest anything and this compost has sat long enough for it to be clear of disease. The worms and natural processes in the soil will finish breaking it down and all the food will be healthy

Kudos and good karma to you for not selling those stunted plants to uneducated city folk like me. Also, have you ever read the book Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollen? One of the sections of the book talks about a place called, Polyface Farm. Where they created an mini ecosystem to create a 100% self sustainable farm. It incorporates the forest, wild animals/insects, raised animals, plants, and even wind. It's a great read that also talks about a lot of other things. If you ever have any down time, I suggest you read it or listen to it on an audio book file while you work your fields.

I feel your pain about lawns till I started feeding the clippings to the chickens and to the compost. Glad to see you are expanding your garden. I am doing 4 raised beds this year all 4x16. We are going to grow enough to last all year finally.

I'm totally the same way about grass - it looks nice, but doesn't have much function other than maybe producing oxygen and avoiding erosion. I need less grass on my yard and forest and more animals or fruit/berries :) Godspeed!

How did the strawberries do with the peas? My strawberries are too old they were here when I got here in 2016 planted close together they act like wild ones! Not producing good yields. have to start over!

I know that this is planting time and far from harvest, but, are you planning on seed saving for non-hybrid varieties when things ripen? Saving your own seed can reduce planting costs.

I also agree, grass is wasting energy, time, and matherials. Love your garden and you plan. I have small garden, and i started with taking out grass and it was never planted garden in that spot. So lot of work but i have some tomatoes, paprika and some herbs and trees. Great video, thanks.

Lol I had give a thumbs up, because you were at 666, so my thumbs up got you to 667. If you hate grass you should move to New Mexico where there is none. :( after a few months you would be wishing for some green grass. It's just dirt here no soil just crummy dirt and we get over 100 mile hour winds here so we have tons of dust devils. Grass does have a good purpose it hold the soil down so it doesn't blow away you can add grass to your compost and it makes great compost. It also keeps the ground cooler for the micros and for the earth worms, and so on, it has a lot of good qualities. So when you have plenty of land to grow food on enjoy your grass ( I can understand when people only have a lot and want a garden then the grass has to go) I just subscribed to your channel enjoying your videos.

The color looks off to me. It looks greenish or blue-greenish, with not enough contrast - does anyone else notice that? It would help with views to have a good color balance, I think.

Also, the color looks weak or washed-out. That's especially noticeable on the thumbnails. And, at least at 360p, the video is blurrier than most other 360p videos. I hope you can get it fixed.

Good idea on trellis for cucumbers. I trellised Boston and Chicago pickling cumbers on cattle fencing from tractor supply worked great. Not sure fishing line will work. Also trellis kept squash bugs away. Don't know if you have squash bugs but they destroyed my volunteer pumpkins, planted zucchini, larger cucumbers, watermelons, Georgia Candy roaster. Planted garlic and onions in that space this year hope to drive the next generation away.

You had a lot on your list this Spring so I'm not surprised that you had difficulties with some of the seedlings. Peppers require bottom heat so maybe next spring you can make a hot box in the greenhouse. I have no doubt next year will be better than ever whatever you put your hand to. :)

I made a 4x8 propagation table with sand and heating element. There’s KZbin videos on how to make. That would help with bottom heat for soil. I can fit 15 seed trays at a time to get better germination rate. I keep the sand about 85 degrees for my peppers and almost every pepper germinated. Good luck with your garden this year!

with that much garden, you should keep an eye out for a 2 or 3 bottom plow for the Ford.

sweet potatoes grow even better in raised beds. And they're healthier than regular potatoes by a lot. They also store incredibly well. I'm still eating mine from last year. in one 12 x 4 ft raised bed I grew 150 lb of organic sweet potatoes last year. This year I'm doing the same but with two different kinds.
