I would go as far as to say that successful hybrid artist/producers that are setting themselves up now, are tomorrows gatekeepers and potentially most successful batch of talent coming up today.

Nobody is even doing that. Who

@@KYLETISZAI Nobody in the mainstream is doing that to the naked eye, however it's happening all over the place. I am surrounded by producer/artist hybrids that are touching M's and get to stay under the radar operating as many artist names along with working with artists in traditional rollouts. I have a catalog of 8K tracks, spread across tons of artist names, in every genre you can think of, and own 100% of it (hybrid artist/producer/label), this is life changing and in x-xx years I can guarantee you'll see way more of us dominating the industry with huge lucrative catalogs worth 10's of milly's).

You're onto something. I had a long reply written about how i know, my experience in this environment for the past ten years, etc., but since my browser crashed before i got to post, i'll just say you're correct. The writing has been on the walls for years now. Emcee hybrids, and two more distinct types of people already control, or will control, this environment for a while.

@@xibear4341 Cheers brother. I'd love to read your thoughts/experience as I'm beside myself at the abundance I'm experiencing, started spiking during the pandemic but even after the inflated numbers my stuff and my teams stuff is still popcorn and busting through plateaus and milestones often. We couldn't predict this but yeah the hybrid route is by far the most direct path to split testing success and scaling fast with crazy rewards. Also tomorrows tech, ar/vr/rr/mr/.. and more platforms constantly licensing stuff, it's an amazing time to be in the space especially if you're multi-talented or a savvy entrepreneur.

You’re delusional asf for thinking a KZbin video with 350k views that you were a guest on “changed the music industry 4ever”. Damn your head is WAY too big compared to the actual accomplishments you have achieved in the whole music industry. How did this (1) video change the whole music industry? What does a KZbin video have to do with 1) Events 2) Music Retail 3) Merchandise 4) Music Synchronization 5) Brand Endorsement ?? All of those sources of revenue make up the majority of the money flowing into the entire music industry. You’re delusional asf🤦‍♂️‼️

A gatekeeper is basically someone who's been burnt or just ignored in the past. And figured it out on their own and not sharing tips or advice with others cause now there is a chip on the shoulder.

I wonder how much of these nastier behaviors are due to insecurity that is so prevalent among artists? People who are confident in their skills, and creativity as a person in general and an artist are not threatened by other artists and don't view them as competition, rather as fellow creatives.
@doce.c.1365
@doce.c.1365 Жыл бұрын
Always has been competitive but this used to be collaborative too. Now, we can create by ourselves. Many artists don’t have relationships with other artists to the extent where they are willing to be helpful or have someone get that close to them.

I figured that artists would be the shocking ironic answer to the question. But IMO the biggest gatekeepers are the people who aren't giving the song the first 100-1000 streams. It sure is hard to get a song rolling on Spotify if no one is initially streaming your songs. And you could be dropping hundreds or thousands on your budget and still getting 0 streams. Of course, streaming platforms, too, can be stingy with experimentally pushing out songs that haven't already been certified as being quality.

The music industry is notoriously difficult to break into, with numerous gatekeepers standing between aspiring artists and success. Some of the biggest gatekeepers include record labels, radio stations, music publishers, and streaming platforms. These entities have the power to determine which artists and songs receive exposure through marketing campaigns or airplay on the radio or streaming services. Additionally, music festivals, booking agents, music critics/journalists, music supervisors for TV/film productions also play a significant role in shaping the industry's landscape by selecting which artists to feature in their events or productions based on their perceived commercial potential or artistic merit. These gatekeepers can make or break an artist’s career, making it crucial for musicians to navigate the industry's complex landscape with care and strategy.

Can you pls tell me what to do after I’ve chosen an artist name? Meaning is just making socials with the name sufficient or should i do other things to solidify it as MY name? Is it just the most popular person who has the name that can run with it or am I supposed to copyright it?Thanks.

Im a gatekeeper for sure. It's just me and my fans,😊. I don't want what I know for other artist to know as well. That's how it gets saturated. And even if I had to show my fellow artists, it will be on a one on one consultation with a charge fee. Free information is good up to a certain point. But you have to be able to gatekeep your skills and marketing ideas to yourself. You don't have to be the best in the industry, but be the first one to find new ideas. ( Just my thoughts)
