So sorry for Betsy’s loss. As a retired ER nurse I have seen similar situations regarding blood clots or venous thrombosis. Good advice about stopping and getting up to walk. Also helpful would be to wear a pair of compression socks to prevent pooling of blood in your legs. Intermittent flexion and extension of your feet at the ankle to activate your calf muscles will assist in blood return from your lower extremities. This activity is easier for the passenger but, if on cruise control, the driver may also accomplish this action. Safe travels.

Great video to warn those of the possibility of blood clots. I am a nurse and used to work in a Cardiac Cath lab in Ft Worth TX and did many catheterizations and angioplasties. One thing I learned from that experience is that it can happen to anyone no matter the age. One thing I did not hear her say is that when traveling and really everyday take a baby aspirin. The reason, it thins your blood but not too much. If you bleed easily, take it every other day. I disagree that once it breaks loose, it is over. We just don't know how long it would take to hit your brain, but people have strokes all the time and they thin your blood and people survive this. The same with heart attacks. Blood clots are all the culprits. So really, baby ASA is a great thing no matter your age if you travel a lot. Her best advice, stop and get out and walk. We stop every 2 hrs without fail. Good advice,I'm 61 years old and I've been taking baby aspirin for at least 20 years

Ask your cardiologist, or at least your primary care physician about the baby aspirin. Mine said NOT to do it for a variety of reasons. It can cause other worse problems than it solves

So sorry for your loss! FYI, we found ourselves in a ER in need of a surgical procedure and the hospital rejected the papers we carried from our Attny because they were marked “copy” . If you can not carry originals call Attny ask to fax papers to hospital. Good luck in your travels, Betsy. I’m glad you are able to continue.

Just meeting Betsy here... what a beautiful Light she is... and such an important message to share. Sorry for your loss and Thank You for spreading this important message. Ps: Having had a shared NDE a number of years back.. I can guarantee you your sweet husband heard every word you uttered... and thought. Any others that I have spoken to, who have been in The Light, as I have.. they really don't want to come back.. some understand that they need to, since their work here is not yet done.. but the 'other side' is so filled with Love.. it is truly indescribable. I even met my mother in law ... who had crossed over 10 years before. The problem is we miss our departed loved Ones. That's the hard part. Blessings to you all.

I lost my daughter age 23, she had just had her second baby, same thing really had gone for a walk around a park with her 2 girls came home and like a lot of new mom's she rested as much as she could. Suddenly couldn't breathe, called 911 was rushed to hospital, stopped breathing 5 times before getting to hospital. Was on life support when we got there, had decided after talking with doctors to turn off machine. Thankfully she actually passed quietly away with just me in her room before they turned the machine off. The worst day of my life and a new start! We adopted both her daughters they are now beautiful grown women. I travel with my dog in my Class C and make sure I take breaks every 2 hours.

Thank you for this very informative podcast regarding deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. As an RN who is contemplating retiring and RV traveling, this was an important reminder for me. I have been traveling back and forth to Chicago for many years to visit my daughter and her family and always prided myself on getting there in 4 hours without a stop. I have to remember the importance of stopping as I age. This can happen to anyone at any age, and I know it! ❤❤❤

That situation happen to my husband after a short flight from VA to Austin Texas. Lucky for him he felt a severe pain in his leg but it did travel to his lungs. Spent months on heparin and a week in the hospital! It’s goo to be on a baby aspirin. Buy the way we have the Brooklyn bedding and it is the best mattress out there. Also, we too have a tiffin Phaeton and I hid an Apple air tag in it so if it get stolen I can track it! It works amazing! I highly recommend it! I Have it on all kinds of things, Especially my electric bikes!

Sorry to hear of her loss and yes, this type of thing happening on the road is a huge concern. In fact less than a month ago I died in our RV and actually was brought back to life and died 3 times in one day. (I did a video on this on our channel) Thank goodness Diane knew CPR. Know a few weeks later and after having a ICD installed I'm up and going again. As Betsy says, tomorrow is not guaranteed.

I am so sorry for that woman's loss, but so grateful for this information. I am considering going out on the road again and will be single. What a sad story, and yet at the same time, I am a believer that things happen for a reason, and although our love ones will leave us, and we will leave them, we must always remember that they will always be with us, as we will always be with them. So although this story is one of tragedy, it’s also a story of hope and survival, because when we tell our stories, it’s like a ripple effect, as it touches many lives, and those who are willing to listen, and to heed the warning signs will benefit from knowing that there is a pathway to survival. So I thank you for bringing this information to your audience, and my hope is that all of us will benefit from knowing that others care, and so the one thing I would pass on to your audience is in addition to the advice that you’re providing through your podcasts, it’s so very important that you get regular, check ups with your doctor, and make sure that before you decide to go on any road trip that you review your medications, and make sure that they’re up-to-date, and that you have a way to refill any prescriptions that your doctor has prescribed you to take, and the other thing is, no matter if you’re an RV’er or not, regular exercise and proper diet, is so very important in maintaining your health, and know your limitation’s, don’t push yourself beyond what you’re capable of doing safely. So please pay attention to all of your health needs, and requirements, particularly as you advance in age, as our health needs changes as we grow older, and we need to change accordingly. Cheers 🥂

As a nurse AND having had blood clots in my leg (when quite young from stasis and an abdominal problem) - Important- hydration and frequent stops for walking. "Working" your leg while riding, letting it stretch out.. think of a hose- the more bend the slower the flow. There are valves to help move the blood forward and prevent it from backflowing BUT not all valves are competent, especially as we age. and once you've had a clot, that valve isn't going to come back. IF you aren't taking anticoagulants and you can tolerate aspirin taking an aspirin a day starting a couple of days before you leave.. and be aware the anticoagulant effect can last a week after the last one. It is not a strong one but can help. ALWAYS take with food, and not at night, take after a meal during the day. Compression stockings can help too, but be careful they aren't tight at the tops, and they must be kept smooth and pulled up, don't let them wrinkle and form a tourniquet.

Very good important show...my first apartment after leaving home state in work life i lived in 10 years and those of us there a while got to know each other..I had one woman's name and had met and had her kid's phones...she said one evening we were coming home and to our stairs how badly she was feeling...I said go sit down and have a glass of water...and got to my place and called kids and said said do not do anything but get here NOW and get her to hospital, have a bad feeling, she looked exhausted...they and hospital were close and she was not panting...that is what is was,,,and a week in hospital on blood clot meds (thinners?)did the cure this time..it is one of my feeling good about self moments and family was so appreciative, I had the Lifesaver cup at her next B-day party...that is a horrible sleeper thing..thank you...glad to be reminded for self care...and ...in so many situations we are alone even if not single,,,Betsy,,,God Bless you and yours and may your Husband be watching over you in pride, peace and I am sure much love.

Two things for those of us who are older should all wear compression stockings especially on travel days. Amazon has some very nice fashionable compression stockings. This is even more important if you have taken the jab. Please, this is not to be a political issue. Just take it as it is. Some very good advice to those of us who travel. Second always know how to drive your rig, I have found that there are a number of spouses who do not know how to even move their rig.

I mean no disrespect please know that. If the permit requirements cause fewer people to visit NPS, then that’s a win. Our parks are so overcrowded and basically no fun anymore. I’m thankful I was able to know the parks before I had to get a permit/reservation for everything. KZbin is great but is also partially responsible for the overcrowding of our parks. Let me rest and recover.

If you are driving from canada to the States. Through north and south Dakota. There no places to pull over and stop and rest. I went frome alberta to Texas . Twice and found nothing. So I had to pull into a road and stop just to let my dogs out. I drove for 16 hours a day. Finally, I found a place to sleep in a wall mart parking lot in James Town. A big shout out to them for letting me park there. Word of cousin . Make sure you take security pacautions before you settle down for the night a rest.
