I'm thankful that my internship turned into a full time position. So many times people forget school is an investment in your future. The degree is just what helps you get the job not so much the grades(can't speak for everything) but most of the time it's more about completion. It's important to have a healthy work life/school balance

Hi Christian, I found your channel recently and must say I am impressed. I can relate a lot to your stories. I began studying pre-med, then Chemistry, then Physics, and finally decided on Statistics (with a minor in Mathematics)! Some people spend a lot of time jumping between majors, and it's a completely normal process. I am in the final semester of my studies as a Bachelor of Science majoring in Statistics in New Zealand. For the next two years, I will be specialising in public health at one of our local medical universities, toward my Masters in Public Health majoring in Epidemiology. This field is much more applied Statistics, and contextualising data into real-world policy/health decisions for positive community outcomes (Eg. modeling COVID-19). On my side of the world, our job market works slightly differently from the US. We don't focus so much on internships here in New Zealand. I am pursuing postgraduate study mostly to apply my skills to one topic, and I know that epidemiologists are always in high demand (employers have already told me). Securing the highest salary job out of college (university) isn't my highest priority, as I think you have come to the same conclusion that as long as you are working in Statistics money will come your way. Keep up the great work, you have found yourself a nice community of Statisticians here on KZbin. PS. Keep on bashing those qualifications in Data Science.

Why else would you do it? Or else it doesn’t make financial sense (Atleast to me)

Yes, I have been lied to. I have been lied to, when they told me Data Science is Artificial Intelligence AI. So I studied AI for several years. Then I discovered that the real Data Science is Statistics. The current AI hype can be misleading to many students seeking to specialize in Data Analysis.

Oh for sure, how are you now?

I am all good now. I switched to Statistics. Thanks for asking :)
