I knew it made it tighter the arm across, but the idea of breaking the posture is way more important. so obvious now Jon pointed it out awesome
@JonThomasBJJ2 жыл бұрын
Such a simple idea but makes a huge difference when you focus on it and guy postures.

One thing about pushing the arm across that I’ve noticed is it makes the shoulder span smaller making it easier to lock in the choke. But that’s just me
@davidwilson831011 ай бұрын
Ok I still had trouble with this tonight and a really nice brown belt was giving me some really good points. I just keep forgetting to make that shift with my foot off the thigh to really get that lock in and connect my foot under the opposite leg
@Jiu-JitsuJourney2572 жыл бұрын
I’ve been taught to never put your foot back down to the hip to adjust the choke. Readjust the choke by doing the windshield wiper motion with your legs. The less you see of the shoulder, the better.

The angled triangle choke “Danaher“ version was meant for people who don’t have long legs like JT. Lol Have harder time locking triangle. The angle makes it so much easier.

If I have “Diamond” and can’t get the arm across, I shoulder walk and switch to teepee if I still can’t get the arm across. This also works if they have giant shoulders and you struggle to switch from diamond to triangle

My coach got me to give up on moving the arm. I've lost too many posture battles playing with the arm.

Interesting point of view inwouldnt say its a misconception, just that if you can't easily get the arm across its not 100% needed.

Danaher triangle finish? How about just triangle finish. It's always been a triangle finish whether people have been doing it wrong or not.

Can you get the tap without the arm across? Sure. Is it a great way to get slammed on your head if you’re using this outside of sport BJJ? Sure.
@karaiarchives2 жыл бұрын
U don’t need the arm across you need to make the angle with ur body
@JonThomasBJJ2 жыл бұрын
Yeah the main idea though is that you need to break the posture and if he frames you, you have to break posture to attack. The angle won’t do any good if he is postured out of the triangle. The arm across doesn’t matter for the finish, it matters to break posture, after that you can focus on angle and don’t have to care about the arm.
