The secret is you never shut down development, you just "down scale" and go radio silent for several months at a time. That way no backers can sue you because you are working to deliver the product as advertised. But you're just gonna need another million and 6 months time. @@utkuyazc5848 I don't believe Cyberpunk is a scam either, but they did participate in some very scummy and dishonest marketing tactics. A few examples... At one point in development cars were supposed to be customizable and upgradeable and if you were following the game early and closely you might have preordered the game under the assumption that these features would be available at launch... however in this particular case their marketing team released a single tweet basically saying that they made the design decision to not include care customization a few months before launch and if you missed that tweet you basically missed that info... (there were people who purchased the product expecting this to be in the game that either didn't use twitter or were at that point avoiding spoilers). Then you have the really shit examples where players were shown that specific early quest during the E3 demo... were told that their decisions and our starting faction would completely influence our gameplay throughout the game and the world as we played, and that the experience of that early quest would be repeated throughout the game... that the game would support multiple playstyles through all/most of its gameplay... something we now know is not the case as that quest line is one of the only ones that has gameplay with that level of depth/detail allowing the player to progress through the level in multiple and very unique ways. Hell the car shootout mechanic at launch was essentially not fail-able, and the expectation that the development team had given the players was that it would be prevalent and featured... going so far as to say that you might get involved in a drive by shooting while you were exploring the world... which at launch was not a thing (this was never corrected until post launch) I think CDPR being forced to give out refunds even if it was under the threat of legal action and because Sony strong armed them is fair recompense for the shady marketing... but it has forever tainted the reputation and good will CDPR had... they were once the darlings of the gaming industry and could literally do no wrong... now everything they ever say will be taken with a grain of salt because many of their core audience felt cheated, manipulated, and in some cases lied too... which they were. (TLDR: It is perfectly fine if you enjoyed your experience post launch or went into it without the high expectations that the marketing sold the game as... but it is also fine to feel the game overpromised and under delivered and be disappointing as a result... but also that doesn't make it a "scam"... at least not by my definition... just shady/scummy AF).

As a fellow balding man in his 30's I have some advice. The worst thing to do if you are balding is to grow your hair long, it does the opposite of what you are trying to achieve. You should keep your hair as short as possible. Long hair weighs more and so tends to clump together and flatten itself out creating a more stringy look, where as short hair can stand on its own and doesn't clump together and so looks thicker. Also, balding men that grow their hair long just look like they are desperately trying to hide something we can all see which makes it more of a thing, when you meet someone with short hair thats balding you generally don't even notice as your not paying attention to it. Its the Streisand effect. The more you try to hide it, the more people will try to look at what your trying to hide. You only get grief about your hair because you grow it long. If you werent trying to hide it no one would care. Do you think someone like Joe Rogan etc ever get any comments about it? No, cuz no one cares cuz clearly he doesnt.
@rain4242
@rain4242 6 ай бұрын
This is false. The reason people don't look good with long hair is because they don't keep it neat styled because its more expensive, takes A LOT of time to style, and requires for you to be patient with growth. Short hair is easier to style and costs you $10-20 to get it cut/styled. You can argue short hair people pay a lot more but then i can tell you someone with 1-2 ft of hair will pay double that price. Short hair is easier for someone to judge you and see you at least you keep your hair clean. If you have longer hair and keep it clean/styled even with balding spots you will always look x10 better than small short hair balding person. Joe rogan is bad example because he did grow out his hair when he was younger but he shaved it because he was already balding and he is into physical sports like UFC. Its well known having longer hair can be hinderance and be used against you in fights. That is why women who fight in ufc either have short braids or will clip their hair very tight in ball style like rhonda rousey. So i would say do what makes you feel better but don't tell people short hair is okay because YOU are okay with it.

@@BladeDevil Clearly my statements went over your head. You are not the main character, the world does not make become any less true because you say it is. I could go over hundreds of examples of people growing hair out and they look better. If asmon looked good with short hair he would stay with short hair. Shaq has really bad hair line so he goes bald, so does joe rogan. Not everyone is like danny devito and can pull off that look. How many danny devitos do you see? Ah right barely any. Next time you think about saying something, don't your opinion is about a relevant as you are.

The thing that makes day of Dragons a scam is the amount of time and money he took to create it a youtuber with no experience in game development recreated it in less than a week meanwhile it took the dev a few years to make and he's coded the steam ids of several youtubers to auto close the game so they can no longer play it only because they talked about how bad it was. I'm assuming you asked for refund after several warning signs were already present. Class-action lawsuit was organized by the virtual royals, nobility, and other people now suffering from lack of kool-aid. He did a rapid 180, claiming the game is still being developed. Last I heard, the last team member aside from him left and he tried to put positive spin on this: because he is all alone he doesn't have to worry about organizing other people and can focus solely on the game.

That video around 25:00 of the truck driving through the mud and bouncing realistically over sticks and logs was a Muddrunner or Snowrunner mod. The community of people who like these games like me mostly care about hunting experience and survival challenges rather than perfect graphics. Of course a game like The Isle is pretty immersive and visually looks good with path of titans to a lesser degree, but a lot of other games in the genre like animalia survival or beasts of bermuda arent on that level visually, but the mechanics of the game are fun with high skill caps for peope who enjoy the hunting experience.

What pisses me off about the day before... is that it could have existed had the team not been a bunch of idiots.. They actually had an excellent vertical slice. They showed many good core mechanics... and from there it's literally just building up the world at that point... There has to be even more to this story imo.

If I ran a successful crowd funding campaign for a video game, the first thing I would do is hire experienced game developers. Maybe the best way to start would be to actually just hire or buy out an existing game development company. If I was going to create a game it would probably be a Western MMO that was part Star Wars Galaxies and part Red Dead Redeption. Maybe I'll get started when I win the lottery.

To be fair.... He did say it was JUST a survival game as a dragon... And to be honest... Dragons don't REALLY stuggle at survival... so like... All he needed to do was add a SMALL uphill battle to grow into a dragon, then just... don't be stupid and bam you survived. I don't think anyone can complain if it just turns into flying and eating a few things every few hours XD.

I think those "scams" have a really sad background. Because there are many developers out there trying to promote their games and they cant keep up with stuff. There are so many people making games now. 25 years ago you could count the number of developers on two hands. Now they are everywhere.

A vertical slice is a great way to get a solid feel for the final product, it is pretty much pushing through the entire development process to get a small section super polished, then adding the rest of the game on step by step. It's useful for multiple reasons but mainly to present the project internally and get approval and direction from the directors of that game, so because things feel final it is easier to direct from there, and to present for investment, such as venture capital or kickstarter. So using a vertical slice is not a scammy practice, it is ubiquitous in the game industry, and it does great for trailers, but due to dishonesty we get this, where the trailers look great and the game worse, because the vertical slice had WAY less content they could not balance the performance with all the content and made the game worse. I hate the day before btw, not arguing for them, just sharing industry insight :)

@@ZedNull. , et al, I would actually forbid a video game company from using dummy pictures to glamorize a product that did not look like the final product. If the Japanese can make a product that looks like what the pictures of the products show, then video games should also have the exact same approach as well, regardless of their location in the world, and ditto for other products that are in the world as well.

Vertical slice is good for just about any massive product, as it can show you what parts of the feature set you can let go, or change or need to expand upon. Issue is its being used for marketing to end consumers.

Unreal engine is as accessible as putting together a house made of legos, but also as complicated as hooking up the house with real electricity and real plumbing. Any legit MMO is probably building their own engine. Any pre-built unreal or unity networking system is probably going to create too many problems.

There are games like Star Citizen which for a while everyone thought was a scam... however after years, the game has delivered soo much of what they promised. also , other space games who promised similar things didn't especially starfield. It did take a ton of time and money. They had to create their own engine to deliver what they promised. At this point there is no competition to star citizen. at it's most minimal you can fly hundreds of space ships / vehicles. DCS does the same thing with jets only and its considered a complete game. its a sad flight sim where SC is a universe SIM.

48:40 to be fair, communicating with the public about a game you're making isn't always as easy as just taking a screenshot and posting it. But yes, I think they could have communicated something. The things making it more complicated could be: - Figuring out what to share - Making sure you're not sharing something that isn't supposed to be shared yet. - Making sure you get a good image of what you plan on sharing. - If it isn't just game play then you have to plan out what is in the image. - If it is gameplay then you have to make sure it shows what you plan on sharing. It doesn't always take long to do this, but it's still more than just taking a screenshot.

I'm a engineer and the reality of it is that if you can find a decent torque screw driver be it hand held or electric you will be fine when screwing into plastic there is a point where it actually draws the plastic threads so you will have to figure out the torque weight. There are wild variations of plastic density and break points but it should be very quick and easy to resolve the issue with a standard torque weight across all the builders. There is really no need to check the screws post application if they are applied to whatever the standard is for that plastic. The issue with electric drivers is that there is not as much feel to the users hand and can lead to more cross threading.
