My Dad gave me sage advice: Whenever you lend someone money, never expect to get it back. Just give as much as you feel comfortable losing. If you get it back, then great. But, don't expect it.

My family taught me this, by constantly stealing my money and never paying it back despite me being in high school at the time. Can't trust family with money, can't trust anyone with money. Hard pass. Kinda sucks because there's some genuine people out there who would pay you back, but it's not worth the risk in my opinion.

I met Slikerr at Twitch Con London and had conversations with him and he was one of the most horrible, abrasive and diresgarding people I've ever ran into in my life. We need someone from 2600 to take a peek into his google search right before this video was made and i bet you his search history shows "How to psychologically manipulate people into believing your apology is sincere". Hes a garbage manipulator. Ive ran across people who could manipulate you into giving them money to pay for their "rehab" to treat the issue they scammed you for in the first place. Then make you feel bad for not giving them more. There are some real psychopaths out there. This Slikerr guy is one of them. hes not good at it, but he definitely is one. Addiction of any type comes at a high victim toll...the addict and everyone else the addict comes in contact with. My step-brother, who died of Fentanyl overdose a few years ago, was an addict from the time he was a teen. I loved him dearly, but there was no way I could ever trust him enough to be involved in my life. He would steal you blind for "just one more fix"...hell, he caused his elderly mother to be homeless because he drained her entire pension account and steal her social security money as soon as it hit the account. Addiction of any kind is a disease of the mind and is associated with impaired impulse control, poor executive functioning, compulsory behaviour patterns, anxiety, and depression. They need professional mental health intervention, but it still takes the addict actually wanting to change for them to have any long term success in kicking their addictive habits. I feel bad for the the guy (Slickers), but he certainly can never be trusted with anyone else's money ever again...and I highly doubt anyone will see a dime of the money they gave him returned. He is certainly embarrassed about what he has done, but I'm not convinced he is very heartfelt about his desire to change.

I can almost guarantee he owes over a million dollars. This is the dark side of the gambling community that no one talks about. This is very common in gambling. That is probably why train wreck never said anything. Many of the “rich and famous” poker players you see on TV are actually broke and owe millions of dollars to many people. It’s a tough lesson you learn in the poker and gambling community, but basically never lend anyone money no matter how well you think you know them unless you are okay losing the money.

It doesn't strike me as insincere. It's very consistent with gambling addiction. Addicts lie. The weight of the guilt is usually so crushing, so they dissociate most of the time, which can make it seem like they were enjoying themselves the entire time while scamming their friends for money. Plus there are multiple factors that feed the viscous circles, that people generally are not aware of. The trajectory here is also very consistent with gambling addiction. I've read a few comments that he apparently acts shitty irl, so maybe he is a shitty person in addition to being a gambling addict. If he were only out to scam his viewers and friends for money, there'd be so many better ways, that wouldn't be so obviously frivolous. It doesn't change anything about the damage he caused. But your chances of getting paid back are higher if you allow the person to rehabilitate themselves. Doesn't mean the victims can't be angry and vent their frustrations. But to refuse to accept that he's a gambling addict won't bring you back your money quickly.
