Addiction of any type comes at a high victim toll...the addict and everyone else the addict comes in contact with. My step-brother, who died of Fentanyl overdose a few years ago, was an addict from the time he was a teen. I loved him dearly, but there was no way I could ever trust him enough to be involved in my life. He would steal you blind for "just one more fix"...hell, he caused his elderly mother to be homeless because he drained her entire pension account and steal her social security money as soon as it hit the account. Addiction of any kind is a disease of the mind and is associated with impaired impulse control, poor executive functioning, compulsory behaviour patterns, anxiety, and depression. They need professional mental health intervention, but it still takes the addict actually wanting to change for them to have any long term success in kicking their addictive habits. I feel bad for the the guy (Slickers), but he certainly can never be trusted with anyone else's money ever again...and I highly doubt anyone will see a dime of the money they gave him returned. He is certainly embarrassed about what he has done, but I'm not convinced he is very heartfelt about his desire to change.

Thats what addiction looks like. There are some people that sell everything they have just to have more money on drugs for example. Idk how is this situation so funny for a lot of people. I feel bad for everyone involved

Except that train also tell his fanbase not to gamble and reminds them of how much he is down. If you still form an addiciton after hearing a millionaire constantly tell you he is down millions of dollars gambling then thats really on you at that point.

@@Weah702 i dunno, if a drug dealer who was also using advised me to never take drugs and that it will ruin my life, i might just listen to them. Not saying its an effective method but its better than shamelessly acting like there are no downsides. If you have ever been around gamblers before, one thing you rarely hear about is the losses they have had, but they always like to tell you about their wins. All this being said, twitch shouldnt allow gambling streams anyway as the platform is primarily for kids.

The live stream apology was incredible. What a master piece of acting. I'm sure people would pay to watch it again, but they can't afford it after he scammed them.
@kayjay7585 Жыл бұрын
It doesn't strike me as insincere. It's very consistent with gambling addiction. Addicts lie. The weight of the guilt is usually so crushing, so they dissociate most of the time, which can make it seem like they were enjoying themselves the entire time while scamming their friends for money. Plus there are multiple factors that feed the viscous circles, that people generally are not aware of. The trajectory here is also very consistent with gambling addiction. I've read a few comments that he apparently acts shitty irl, so maybe he is a shitty person in addition to being a gambling addict. If he were only out to scam his viewers and friends for money, there'd be so many better ways, that wouldn't be so obviously frivolous. It doesn't change anything about the damage he caused. But your chances of getting paid back are higher if you allow the person to rehabilitate themselves. Doesn't mean the victims can't be angry and vent their frustrations. But to refuse to accept that he's a gambling addict won't bring you back your money quickly.

And this dude who lent him the 27 thousand, most kids that age are living paycheck to paycheck and dont have anywhere near 30 grand just sitting in the bank. If he did work up and save all that money up, and he was willing to just lend it away to someone you never interacted with before irl, idk man, you could of done so many other things with that and now will never have the chance to, that just sucks. Tired of people acting like personal responsibility has nothing to do with it. Streamers aren't your friends, not even other streamers. The people that fell for this have weird unhealthy parasocial relationships and need very much to work on breaking that cycle.

Anyone who remotely deals with people on a daily basis can tell you what a solid disingenuous performance is. Basically That. If a person feels legit grief... they wouldn't have done that performance. -you need to understand what control it would take to steady your voice to the same db levels during a whole apology, simply impossible. If that Sliker has a heart, he's certainly not putting it into our lives. -It is great to follow people, just make sure you are part of the right mind, a healthy mind. God bless.
