Great video! I might mention another item (#4) being directional inaccuracy resulting from the screen transposing 3D info onto a 2D display. There is no left/right/center for the display: only depth/distance. Just got my unit last year and now realize I was likely casting to fish that weren't positioned where the screen showed them. To get directional accuracy you have to factor in the beam width at the distance to the fish shown on the display, then move your beam left/right until you get the strongest return for the fish. Hopefully, I'll have better luck this year!

My buddy just picked up an lvs32 for this Ice fishing season and she has been a deadly unit.. definitely helps you read the mood of the fish better than a flasher but I am not the biggest fan of using it solely on its own. I think the one two punch between the livescope and the flasher is a deadly combo on the ice especially when your hopping holes. Usually keep the scope in one or two main holes around the middle of the area im fishing and then if I scan around and see fish you can just walk over with the flasher and bang your on em! Plus in terms of deciphering the species of fish we’ve found it extremely easy to pick though them whether it be tulipee, crappie, walleye, or pike. We aren’t 100% accurate with the guesses but a hell of a big difference compared to just using my striker 5

The problem is tournaments using livescope. "Pros" should fish with their senses and knowledge not staring at a screen the entire time. The technology is fine and not going anywhere and like you mentioned, doesn't instantly make you catch fish. Tournaments should allow all electronics including livescope only on practice days where people can mark their locations and spots they want to fish the days of the tournament but no livescope or 360 should be allowed. Fish finder is the only thing you can have.
@ethancarr9183 Жыл бұрын
I slightly agree the only problem is for example at a smallmouth tournament such as the st Lawrence or Mille lacs or Champlain if FFS is taken away guys are going to rely heavily on 2D which is just a guy looking at a screen all day. The other issue is that b.a.s.s and MLF are trying to showcase these fisheries to create tourism and FFS just increases weights making fisheries look very good on paper.

I think a lot of the points you make apply to basic bass fishing. It's easy to get a bite on whatever you're tossing, not know what's biting it, but lock in on that lure and location for an hour or two, not catching any fish. Also, I've never used livescope, but have used basic fishfinding sonar. It's a tool, and there's nothing wrong with using it. As you point out, it's when you crutch on it that it can get in your way. But if you combine the information from your sonar with your knowledge, you're guaranteed to catch more fish.
@DshaunBirch10 ай бұрын
exactly that’s not some trade secret every fish is different and things change on a dime that’s common fishing knowledge you even see it on strike cams one fish will completely snub a lure and the one next to it will inhale it also fish will completely lose interest in a lure or turn off completely fishing is pivoting there’s no excuse for getting tunnel visioned unless that’s the only lure you have left lol

By what multiple do you think livescope increases the count of fish you catch in a single day? I just started fishing in local tourneys in july this year and have found that the guys with livescope seem to always catch their limit and cull fish but I rarely do. I'm sure some of it can be chalked up to inexperience but I'm curious if in a given day I typically catch 4-6 bass...would I expect that to turn into 6-8, 8-12, etc. because I can rule out areas with no fish and focus more-so on those that do? Welcome other users thoughts here as well!
@TylersReelFishing Жыл бұрын
Hmm, there really is no good answer to that. Sometimes I catch 1-3 more fish per day because of it, and sometimes (rarely), I only make a cast when I see one. Mostly suspended fish winter days. Those days years ago I would only catch 1-2 per day, now I’m catching a dozen or more. It really is hard to quantify though More experience on bodies of water, and spring time events will even out the field. But if it’s winter, summer, or smallmouth, Livescope guys will always do better

Livescope helps you see what areas are fishy, see structure, see contours, help with boat positioning....
@DanBrundage-fl1dp Жыл бұрын
Hey Tyler, awesome vid. I definitely think livescope gives the angler a very niche advantage. Personally, I don’t enjoy watching pro anglers in tourneys use it but that is a personal preference. I think randy blauket said it best when he said it’s like a putter in gold that does all your put calculations for you and all you have to do is decide to putt. Maybe I’m wrong on that but that is kinda what it looks to me. But other than personal preference, there is one big thing I am not a fan of livescope for. I think if this tech is continued to be used it may have a negative effect on the big breeder stock in lakes and could potentially really affect genetics of bass to come. Historically the biggest fish in lakes could hide very effectively from anglers out deep. Now that is much harder with livescope and they could be abused and not have the survival rates tagt they used to. Especially fish brought up from really deep may have a hard time getting back down to the bottom if not an impossible time due to pressure. You see it in saltwater fishing all the time that a fish died due to an unhealthy release from being caught off bottom in really deep water. I am not sure how it all will play out and I hope to be proven wrong but that is my fear.

Tyler thanks for videos and all your tips & advice. Us average Joe's and family men it is hard to justify FFS, family first always. Reading some of your "members" comments, the one that I got a kick out of said it all, if you aren't scoping your just hoping. Sounds to me guys like him probably don't know the first thing about real bass fishing, seasonal patterns, time of day, water clarity, etc etc etc. Wonder if he ever gave thought about the last place he scoped that didn't show fish. JUST SAYING

Ive been fishing over 30 years, got ffs this spring.. improved all my pbs in a couple of sessions.. just saying.. Fishing the same water i did before.. i couldve never found/caught those fish without it. Like if a nice rod costs 400 bucks then spending 1k on a ducer isnt so crazy.

You don’t see the fish on the bottom because your setting are wrong, to much backlight and gain in combination with the wrong color scheme you don’t see lighter spots on your screen.😂calls himself a pro

Spot on again livescope is not easy to use when it comes to bass fishing. Crappie fishing its easy but not bass fishing.

Maybe in the heat of the moment we should be like skywalker and use the force instead of the scope.

Brother I release 2 videos a week, some pond focused, some kayak focused, some shallow fishing focused, some deep fishing focused, some with electronics, some without. If I put out a Livescope video once in a blue moon and you unsubscribe because of it, you wild 😂

Simply because of the angle of someone's head? So if I had the image projected into my sunglasses you'd be ok with it?

I don’t get the appeal of electronics but don’t care that people use them either. I have a canoe and rig a couple rod holders on it and hit unpressured waters where guys with big boats can’t go.

the problem with livescope is people are buying crazy technologies they could never hope to fully utilize and its very wasteful and harmful to our environment. do these people know the environment is where the fish live? or do they just not care?

None of these sound like real problems with the livescope. It sounds like more of an experience using the livescope. You could experience all the same problems with the regular sonar.

Some State game and fish: if you want to shoot a crossbow you need a doctor's note that says your shoulders are no good. Also state game and fish: forward facing sonar? Everybody get one.
