The biggest problem with battery-powered lights like the Simpex RGB LED is the battery swelling up due to excessive heat exposure. There isn't a reliable way to replace this on the go.

It is! And now it's available for a crazy low price. Although it might also suffer from the same battery issues down-the-line though.

You can completely eliminate the battery and solder the female usb port's wires to where the battery points were. But that would cost you portability, that you know already. But one workaround to that would be mounting a small 5000mah powerbank to the back. I made a portable raspberry pi the same way a year ago for pen testing, still works great. Hope this helps.

Ah, I see. I'll try connecting the charger wires to the battery contacts. Since it is regulated to 12V, it might be sufficient to Light the LEDs.

Bro another thing that you can do is to puncture the cell. I myself did 2 times no issues but you need proper guidance. Now this battery you are dealing with is a 2C battery. I had done the fix for 3C battery that offer more current and far more danger than 2C battery. Lithium battery will surely be explosive enough if:- 1. They get in contact to heat. 2. They get in contact with water. 3. If their is excessive rupture. Things that you may need. 1. Hospital steryl rubber gloves to prevent your moist hand for creating shorts. 2. Any disposable syringe needle. 3. Heat tape(this is mainly you need to by normal tape won't do the job). Heat tape prevents temp upto 480°c. You may see many lithium small battery comes with pre installed heat tape on them. 4. A 5v led strip light. Steps. 1. Fistly discharge the battery by connecting the 5v stip light. Wait until the light get dim. Caution don't overdischarge the battery. Because if you over discharge the bms won't be able to detect the battery hence the battery won't start. Disconnect the strip light. 2. Wear the hospital steryl gloves don't touch to water or liquid. 3. Now tear open the fresh dispovan needle and gently push the needle for very small hole, don't fully insert the needle inside the battery, keeping a angle of 30-40° hole in centre. If you poke the battery chance of it to get explode. 4. Now press the battery with both hands let the gas come out. 5. Finally apply the yellow transparent heat tape in center of hole and woolah your job done. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Cello tape or other local tape will not be able to withstand heat above 50°c hence will loose its adhesive properties or even melt. ★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

Get one with an external, removable design. In this example, that digitek light I showed is still working to this day. I regularly use it.

Wonder if same will happen for godox. Is this like buying wholesale from china & laser printing simpex brand or they genuinely made it.
@TheHopelessGeek
@TheHopelessGeek 3 жыл бұрын
They always get it made from China as they have cheap labor and variety of technology. But Godox doesn't buy wholesale, they hire a company to do their specific design. Their Light is also prone to the same issue.

I foresaw this problem and decided to simply buy wipro RGB bulbs. Yes, they aren't exactly as portable as a standalone panel or provide enough lumens, and to get softlight you'd need a softbox. But I've found them to be more reliable than these Chinese brands like Simpex, Digitek and whatnot. Best solution would be if these companies provide only the RGB panel that can be powered through an AC input, at a fraction of the cost. Cause if required, later on, customers can purchase a battery, provided they feel the need for it, for outdoor purposes mainly.
@TheHopelessGeek
@TheHopelessGeek 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, hybrid solutions with battery and power input are the best. I'll only get things like that from now. The problem with AC powered lights is that often, they tend to flicker, especially in the budget category.😅

@@TheHopelessGeek I have the three color version of this light- white, warm white and bluish white. The build quality is cheap and flimsy. I have been using it for a month now with no issues, only time will tell how good it really is. But from the touch and feel of the product I'm not too sure. The USB powered input does make it a little easier to live with. I mainly use the light for my office video calls, and I'm pretty happy with it considering the price.
