I think personally it’s meant to activate the zoom more, much like the flight plate system in the 28s and 29’s But for forefoot cushion is counter productive, I’d rather have soft foam then a stiff plastic my feet is on

biggest problem with all nike basketball shoes is that theyre too narrow and theyre not durable. all of them fit like kobes too narrow, low shaft and low midsole.

Got the Penny colorway and interestingly it feels super smooth and cosy to me. Far better than Ja1 oder Kobe 6 which I have also in rotation. The lockdown and support is pretty bad though and the grip is not top tier in my experience.

Hey, doc! How about a list of hoop shoes that have AGGRESSIVE AND STABLE FLANGES/OUTRIGGERS? As a widefooter myself, sometimes widefoot friendly shoes with wide footbeds and roomy uppers can accomodate my feet but unfortunately have very soft or very minimal outriggers. I've noticed this when I gained weight and my shiftiness took a hit because when I would try to make aggressive sideways starts/stops, I would feel the lateral part of my shoes giving out. I've ditched the KD16, LeBron 21, GT JUMP 2 (I've noticed Nike has completely gone away from giving us proper outriggers) and the 361 AG2 (accident waiting to happen). I switched to the Anta GH4 (half size up because of narrow fit) because that's the first shoe I've seen in a long time with such a beefy outrigger. Had to painfully, PAINFULLY, break them in tho. BUT THE STABILITY ON THAT THING IS TOP NOTCH AND IT ALLOWS ME TO PLAY WITH MUCH MORE FREEDOM THAN MY PREVIOUS SHOES. Since the GH4 is casically phased out, I'd like to have some other good recommendations for hoop shoes with decent cushion and that have normal-wide fit and a beefy outrigger.

Also you could try the new adidas Harden Vol 8s they have 1 of the widest forefoot bases and a nice flange with a tpu support piece made for exactly what you’re talking about, preventing that foam from giving way when you’re leaning and pushing off on it. If you want to stick with Anta again on Famuji they still have the KT 7s highs & lows Klay won the 2022 chip in these. They have incredible impact protection (GH 4 on steroids) and a gnarly outrigger.

@@allensmith9879 GH4's are really tempting since they're just 54USD here in the PH but the joint on my big toe really doesn't want to handle that break in anymore. Even less when bought slightly used (2nd hand market is huge here). Looking at the KT7's but afraid of the weight increase tho. Would you say the improvement in cushioning is worth the weight increase? Also wondering about the KT8 and KT9 since they're more readily available here.

It's probably the wide foot friendly fit, softer uppers, and the improved traction on the translucent outsole that's making people like them. Otherwise it's pretty much a downgrade from the 16s. Wish they would bring back the midsole set-up + traction of the 14s, remove the strap, and turn it into a low-top. Pretty much a 🐐 👟.
