You always remind me of this, and I think we have to remember, eBay is our friend. It’s not us versus them. We are business partners at the end of the day. Yes, they control the entire platform, but at the end of the day, they do the hardest part of the legwork, which is actually acquiring the customers through advertising. That’s one thing that you have been reminding me of over the past week or so is that if you go into your business trying to work together with eBay to make a sale instead of being selfish and trying to take as much profits as possible, you end up doing more business in the end, and your customers are more happy.

Fun talk! My experience at bins ( no line-savers) is majority grab everything out of the newly rolled in bins, stuff in bags and boxes and keep doing this. Then they go to the back of the store and spend hours going through everything. I can’t stand amongst the wailing arms so I just go to the bins where they toss everything they don’t want and I’ve found some good stuff. However it’s very unpleasant scene so I don’t do it much anymore. People literally sit in the clothes bins and eat and chat for hours because there are no seats.

They Sit IN the bins - and eat?? Oh that would not fly at our bins, out bins management very by the book, rules enforced place...and no place to sit either. I have sat on the floor to go through my items. Not fun though. Not that I grab stuff like you describe...I am just going thru looking for stains, tears, looking things up, etc. Once in a while a chair ends up in the back and I get lucky for my sorting. I don't go to bins much, about 2 to 3 times a year so not a big deal.

I do agree. In extreme, bad weather conditions people shouldn’t brave it in line. I think if that’s the case the store would distribute tickets or something for people waiting in line and then have them wait in their cars until doors open

@@technsports I'm not a wait-in-line kind of person. Luckily here in FL I've never had to wait to get in anywhere. I'm in Volusia County and hit the bins in the Orlando area only on the weekends to avoid notorious Orlando traffic. BUT, if I were sourcing back in NY, OH HELL YES, I'd be droppin' a big ass rock in that faux line and waiting in my heated car. 😆😆 No need to add additional misery to the process. And P.S. If someone wants to just "jump the line" and saunter in ahead of everyone, that's no skin off my back. I don't take that stuff personally. There are thousands of pieces of clothing at the bins so no worries.

The one and only time I went to the bins (after driving an hour) there was a group of young people standing and sitting on the edge of bins blocking others from looking at the bins. I've always referred to them as the bins mafia and I've never gone again

My return % dropped from 4.5% to 1.88% the past few months after switching to 99% men's clothing. Who would've thought women would initiate more returns then men? 🤷‍♂😆

I’ve seen stores like yours/carrie-at-home and others…who seems to be able to send out automated emails/newsletters to people who’ve just viewed their store (not even bought items)with say a few pictures of recently listed items and even a personal coupon code. Can you explain how to do this here in chat or even do a special video showing how (and any of the other promotional tools you use/encourage eBay stores to implement)? At the movies, for like opening night where it will be packed a friend will make sure to get in early and leave things for their friends like a hat, jacket, or whatever. I used to say i can sell a rock when i was in the landscaping business. For the social security administration office in my town (San Diego) they do that in the Chula Vista Office on L street I saw people arriving at 6:00a.m. And leaving a pillow, a sweater, a chair, a rock, etc. and then people went to their cars and slept surprisingly everyone respected it and I am glad they did that because I think is unfair that 3rd age people stand at the cold outside for hours. The market wants Amazon prime free shipping. I could see eBay implementing an annual subscription package like prime- but much cheaper. Watch them in the next quarter or two to roll out a new revenue stream to make up for lost FVFs.

About the calculated shipping change…I use the calculated shipping and always have. There are plenty of times I have to cover a difference bc the calculated shipping didn’t cover the actual shipping charges. So it’s netted to about even for me. Which means some buyers overpaid and some under. I’ve offered to refund the difference a few times when I found the diff to be marginally too high but never had anyone be concerned with it. And on that note, eBay has been offering sellers that discount for quite some time. The fact that they are now offering it to buyers instead of sellers is no change for eBay. They just switched the recipient. Which I never understood why they offered the discount to sellers to begin with…just charge buyers what it actually costs to ship by making an adjustment 😢o the final sales price calculation. But hey what do I know lol

Tech. I am a part time reseller that is striving to better myself and turn the part time thing into the full time gig. Having trouble scaling because 10 hours working 5 days a week, those 5 days commuting 4 hours a day, and basically just managing to maintain orders and listings where I can- but struggle with 1- consistency 2- scaling. I don't know where to begin, I have implemented a lot of practices to better my business....but can't see the big picture to get there. Have you been in a situation like this or seen someone emerge from these challenges. I can basically taste it and not afraid of work ...I am juggling everything with about 4 hours of sleep which ..that's about what I need a night, but if I lose more sleep it starts to affect me. Any info is great info- thank you for providing the community an approachable and accessible knowledge - I never take it for granted.

I’m gonna throw an idea at you that I try to follow, as I am a very low scale reseller at this time. I’m addicted to this content and hobby yet I struggle getting my own butt in gear due to the physicality and hours of my job. How available are you on your two days off? So in St Louis they were doing the line place holders .. and it’s mostly large men trying to intimidate people .. as a small women, I did NOT respect the place holders and I walked up to the next open space in the line, behind a human person .. now our bins have put the signs on the window/ doors that there are no line holders you must stand in line .. so now people get there really early and sit outside in lawn chairs .. also our bins only open for 3 hours 💗

??? 3 years now in current account. First year sales 2-3 on first of every month. Dead all month. Finally complained to Ebay. Have had several boosts but nothing lasting. Finally went to mostly free ship on 3 -4 0z. jewelry items and grew to 10-12 sales a month and never have been able to increase sales beyond that. Consistent listing, tweaking, adjusting, correcting, sell similar, etc.Some promoted listings on higher value items. Listings went from 100 to now over 400. High quality sterling and gemstone, costume and vintage plus some misc.bigger items. 100% ratings and great feedback. Cannot get over $500 per month. Nothing helps! Should I close down my account and start over again?

I don't think Ebay will take a loss on the shipping change. They profit on sale and shipping. The price of the item will just go up. Item sells for 80 and 20 calculated shipping before now they ship at 10 you will have to set the price of the item to 90. Why I prefer set shipping rates items are worth an amount. Calculated is just going to give higher prices to further away buyers which could price you out of the sale. It might cost me more to ship to them but its the same as giving coupons or discounts to people if buyer offered me $5 off my item Id accept so if it cost me $5 more but they paid full price without a discount that be the same. It is why I prefer when I can see what state they are in some times it only says US. This is for clothing seller yes you could lose your shirt if you shipped heavy items 1 time had golf set sell based it off a set shipping they were Washington as far as far can be for me and it was $90 I still made $15 but I thought I was going to be better.

I Stopped going to the bins here becuz it is chaotic, but at Estate Sales they are holding their places with items. They had conversations which turned into an argument at the last estate sale I attended. They said it is a known rule.🤦🏽‍♀️I hate the rule ...crazy!
