Not only was the fact that James May crashed and got out completely unscathed, a miracle in itself. But the fact that the Evo survived two deaths and got back up like it was the car equivalent of Rock Balboa is just incredible. Thats why Rally bred cars are the greatest cars ever built. Truly built to go fast anywhere and last longer then the people who built it and drive it.

Japaneese cars are special. I once owned a Mazda 323F BG. One Winter i crshed it, but it was no problem, replaced the plastic and had it 3 more years. One day, i missjudged the braking point of the car infront. I looked to the dashboard during the impact.....49 kmh. When i got out, the car was standing on both lanes and EVERYTHING infront of the frontaxle was gone. Engine and gratbox been crushed into the car at least a couple inches. Other cars tried to pass on the grass, it was a dangerous situation. So i got back in and i was like "Come on, fire up....just one more time!" I turned the key and it sprung to life. So i tried the gearbox... it worked, so i drove it to the near by parkinglane.... well the police didnt like it, because of "destroing evidence"

It may of survived the 2 incidents but it wasn't road legal after the 1st crash, its chassis was bent well beyond repair/being road legal, its mentioned in one of the behind the scenes/after show videos they do from a producer iirc.

One of my cars is a 2004 Passat B5.5 with the beloved 1.8T AWM engine, 4motion (Quattro-Torsen) all wheel drive and 5 speed manual so I have the Audi's close cousin. @@Juggernaut30 even so, a waterboarded engine isn't so easy to fix. Not only that but a lot of the water probably froze inside the engine. But idk maybe James was just really lucky and the damage wasn't too bad so the mechanics could fix it.
