I see Gary as a tragic character. He has a very deep and intricate mind, but he's in a pets body, meaning he can only have his mind to keep him company, endlessly developing and practicing philosophy without purpose or point. He doesn't have any struggles except for spongebob and anyone who takes care of him, unable to voice his discontent, unable to improve his situation without sheer luck. If spongebob, who is a major authoritive force, but mostly still shows signs of kindness takes care of him, He gets to live a standard pet life, mabye sun tanning on the roof, or reading spongebos books occasionally. If Patrick, who actively terrorizes him, takes care of him, he has to fear for his life. If squidward, who is neglectful takes care of him, he has to find his own way to survive. If Mr. Krabs gets his hands on him, he is reduced to a tool. If plankton gets his hands on him, he loses his identity and comfort, and has to fight to get it back. A carefree, yet tragic life. Hey, at least he can be free in his dreams. (Man, no wonder Gary was angry at spongebob when he invaded his dream...)

to be fair the 7DS are pretty common character flaws that most characters or people have in one way or another, it's almost like they're not meant to be considered some ultimate evil but instead the 7 fundamental traits that make up all negative behaviours.

Can you relax without sloth? maybe gluttony has no redeeming value, and lust is gluttony for sex so maybe those 2 are just no good.

I think there's a misunderstanding of what gluttony means. It's not just something to do with food it's overindulgence so that could mean partying too much just doing too much of everything that makes you happy.

You make a solid point! I was basing the video's idea off of the generic stuff I could find online so that's why it's all food related. Overindulgence changes my thoughts on the theory, now I'm wondering if I could've looked at Squidward (like the whole boredom sequence in Squidville from Season 2). Tbh, Patrick is way more like gluttony than Gary is (since Patrick usually eats a lot of food and in The Patrick Star Show, he literally eaten and killed two innocent people on live television). Also this video made me realize how abusive SpongeBob is to Gary. No wonder why SpongeBob was blaming Gary when he was being eaten alive in A Pal for Gary, it was all leading up to this. Also have you seen what SpongeBob did at the end of the season 5 episode "SpongeBib vs. the Patty Gadget?"

really amazing video so far. about 8 minutes in but its worth noting: regular show had a similiar issue with saturation. one episode (forget what it was called but it was about a weight lifting tourtamnet.) had the opposite issue where the colors were SUPER SUPER saturated instead of being slightly more desaturated.

The nuclear mutation theory really isn’t that wrong of a theory. Bikini bottom is based off of bikini atoll, a place where nuclear weapons were tested, and if I remember correctly there was an episode where everyone except Sandy “unmutated” into normal sea life. TL;DR that mutation theory has some solid footing from what I was able to gather

i liked this video for the most part. i think using more clips than screenshots would make it better though. i really like your humor and you make some great jokes in this. visually there isn't a whole lot going on in the video so the part where you put the stats on screen of how often gary is seen with food was good! but also bad because you don't say it out loud. remember that if your video isn't engaging enough for people to watch and they just listen, they'll miss out on important details like those stats. just some helpful tips and thanks for the video!

I feel like the roles are all wrong which is why Gary gets such an unfitting role. Patrick is an easy Gluttony. Squidward is easily Pride. SpongeBob is Wrath (this video damn near proves it). Plankton Envy. Krabs Greed. Sandy Lust (the biggest stretch, but her thrist for knowledge and bikini figure could do enough). And lastly, Gary is Sloth.

The thing is, I feel you could pose the same theory to any screwball comedy with an eclectic cast. The goal is to give each character some unique flaw, which due to its intrinsic ties to studied human behavior leads to each of them often vaguely resembling one of the seven sins. It's yet another case of people trying to find a "deeper meaning" in something when the answer is so much simpler if you just have a basic understanding of what characters, themes, and narratives make for compelling entertainment. It just ain't that deep bro.
