Advice from a chronic hair dyer. I've been dying my hair for almost 30 years, and if you're going to go from box black to literally anything else, you will need to process tf out of your hair. Pulling out black box dye, in particular, is really challenging. Now, since you want to go to red, you won't need to lift your hair all that much because a copper base will naturally tone with red, but you probably still need to start with a color remover before you bleach. You HAVE TO STRAND TEST. I cannot emphasize that enough.

I literally gave up trying to get the black out of my hair I’ve been letting it grow out for over 2 years and I chop off the bottom 😅 there’s still 4 inches of black left!!

Came here to say the same thing. The black really doesn't come out. You would get that Billie Eilish look from a few years ago where her roots were neon green and the rest was black, only you would have red roots.

as a fake redhead myself, you should definitely go for it! I dyed my hair red for the first time in 2017 and I'm still red to this day with no plans on going back to my natural colour. Red just suits me better and omg it looks so good on you!

Yeah that's out of touch. What is happening in the USA though, like I literally live in a third world country in Asia, and I think only some expensive baby formula are locked. Detergents aren't. That's so sad for the USA.

Love love love these hauls. I just need to tell you something … chances are you don’t have dandruff and it’s just dry scalp or product build up. Also, be careful with the head & shoulder shampoo and coloring your hair Red. The Head & Shoulder’s will strip the color out. It strips ALL color out, but red it turns it muddy. ❤❤

I’ve been dying my hair red since I was 11 lol. But I e tried other colors including box black and you’ll definitely need some processing to get that out of your hair before you go red. You could try letting the black fade out some and then try a stain type of dye instead of permanent, it’s less damaging, but stains can also be a pain to remove, unless of course you just cover it up with black again. But red is fun! It’s my favorite color I’ve ever tried (:

Go to a professional to go red! I went from box black to red and wowsers! So much has to be done. My black didnt fully come out for over 2 years, it had to be cut out. I was then red for 5 years.. money got tight so I went back to box dye but only a dark brown. Never doing black again 😬

Hmm one thing that Has helped me is to always make sure my hair is completely dry before laying down at night after showering. Also add a hair mask and scalp oils atleast once a week or every two to help with the dandruff. If its just dry skin the oils and mask will help if its fungal then keeping hair dry will help so doing all three should fix up atleast most of the dandruff problems.
