The Biggest Trout I Have Ever Seen!

During a visit to Bakewell I have a look at the River Wye in Derbyshire and see some of the biggest wild brown and rainbow trout I have ever seen! They were truly amazing and after watching them for a few hours get some underwater footage to see them up close.

Remember when I went to Bakewell and saw these trout, couldn't believe how big they were! Reckon it's just the copious amounts of bread that make them so big? Fished the wye before and it was great, but didn't see anything half the size of those fellas

Guess it's an easy life for a fish there, saw them get fed three times within two hours so certainly food is plentiful. When you are that big predators might struggle too!

It's ludicrous the number of huge fish down there, especially the grayling.

I live near Bakewell and see these fish regularly and they are huge and some grayling to about 3 pounds but there dwarfed by the trout! The water is owned by the Duke of Rutland at Haddon Hall and you can buy day tickets to fish the wye, I bought my dad one for his 80th birthday and it was eye wateringly expensive not even sure if the town centre stretch is included. And a day ticket for mayfly time needs a re mortgage! The tickets are (or were a few years ago) available from the peacock Hotel in Rowsley. Glad you enjoyed watching the fish I take my kids swimming at Bakewell and we walk by the river to see them. If you go further upstream towards Buxton there are some really would stretches with some fairly big rainbows and brownies to 3lb plus its really worth a walk up and through if you enjoy walking and wildlife.

A very nice place to live! People in the tackle shop were very helpful too. Maybe one day I will get a ticket and give it a crack. I'm excited with any trout over a pound so would be easily pleased.

Where can we buy a day ticket for fly fishing? Do you have some information Tx ;)

Have a look at the comment by Wezlo 79. I don't think you can fish this bit specifically but up and down river tickets are available from the peacock Hotel in Rowsley.
