A special hour-long episode of The Bill screened on TVNZ, i.e. TV One (now TVNZ 1), on Christmas Day 1991 at 8pm which was non-commercial. This was due to the Broadcasting Act 1989 which states that commercial advertising is not allowed to be shown on Christmas Day.
