Wurlitzer fills me with a childlike joy that is hard to describe. My heart swells and for a moment I am so completely content. Thank you so much for this. How wonderful!

The theatre organ was designed to reveal to the world why humans were born with a prehensile and opposing thumb!

As always it's great to hear you put the Wurlitzer at the Senate Theater through its paces. Keep posting as much as you can while the organ is still in place so we can save them and listen to our Wurlitzer while it's looking for a new home.

Great playing on a great instrument! Good use of 2nd touch and the snare drum. Spectacular instrument, this; the only Mayan console ever made (on a French-style shell!!), very unusual tab layout, and it's nice to see an Wurlitzer with the swell indicating keys not only not removed and replaced by more tabs, but actually functional!

Yet a lot of organists thought them purposeless and a lot of refurbished Wurlitzers have them removed and the space filled with more stops. They're properly called "indicating keys" in Wurlitzer company slang, and you could also adjust the swell by moving the keys manually. There's one for each swell and, in some larger organs like this one (the Fisher, now Senate organ) a black one for the crescendo pedal. Weird spec on this one, too - first by manual and, under that, by individual chamber!

What great playing this is, crisp clean and precise, and as ever the Wurlitzer sounding superb. I think marches always sound good on a theatre organ. Well played can we see more of you playing before time runs out. Very nice march, I haven't heard it before.

This is a very superbly played and registered arangement. I only wish I could play so well. The 2nd touch post horn is just great! Gary

Those correspond to the swell pedals ( volume pedals). I wish they put these on electronic organs.

completely excellent. The Nethercutt Collection in Sylmar, California collection has some great theater organs and automatic instruments. The Dukes of Dixieland have a circus album where they 'tear up' this song thanks for sharing this.

Dang, I wish I had one of these! Too bad I'm a drummer instead of an organist. I love the drums, but always wanted to play one of these just to see how many sounds I can get out of it. Keep up the excellent work!

It is truly a shame that in many of the "I gotta haver MORE ranks" rebuilds the first thing to go is the swell indicators. I always found them very helpful. Wonderful recording, thank you for your playing.

It looked like he had complete control of that maze of keys and stops. Nice Job.

Superb! I love a rousing march on a Theatre Organ, and this doesn't disappoint. I share Glenny56's view, sounds great, and this march is a new one on me also. Never heard it before.

@glenny56 Marches always sound good on a theatre organ, because unlike a church organ, a theatre organ was specifically voiced to emulate an orchestra or BAND. Thus the instrumentation on a theatre organ would be very close indeed to what a marching band has. Namely the percussive instruments. Church organs do not have glocks, marimbas, chimes, triangles, or drums...but a theatre organ does. So yeah, agreed 100% Along similar 'notes' theatre organs also sound like carousel organs

@svogar - personally, I think they look rather untidy - and who needs swell indicators when you have ears?

I think it's the voicing and the light electric action (as opposed to the old barique tracker organs) allowing for nice and precise staccato playing. To distinguish a theatre fro a carousel organ, I would throw-in a vox humana, tibia clausa (which screams "theatre organ!") and I would go easy on the glockenspiel in unisson with the melody (because that screams "carousel organ!") - just my humble opinion. BTW what a beautiful sounding Wurlitzer!!!

They can be nice if you use the separate expressions for each division, but most organists don't.
