One thing about Square games that is consistently good is the music. Nobuo Uematsu always delivers.

Kinda funny how Square's story sounds similar to what they did with some of their Final Fantasy titles. Honestly, a few decades from now, and with combat added in, I could absolutely see a Final Fantasy game about a group of storytellers who came together to save their dreams and ambitions. Excellent job! I enjoyed this throughly! I remember the day I got Final Fantasy. Our family had gone to a Flea Market and this was after seeing the Nintendo Power with the game in it and beating Dragon Warrior. (Which at 11 years old was a challenge!) So seeing the black case on a table with other Nintendo games made my heart skip a beat. To be sure, I begged my Mom to get it and because it was at a Flea Market it was cheap, she did! What followed was an epic tale of hours long grinding sessions between my cousins and I who would get up early and just kill monster after monster! That was 34 years ago. I've been a FF die hard ever since. It seems like I'm in good company! Congrats and may we always be united!

I’ve been waiting for a documentary like this since I was a teenager. Now my favorite FF content creator is making it happen for me. Thank you guys and bless you from the bottom of my heart for all your hard work and diligence in making this dream come true! I’ve become the artist I am today largely due to the influence of these individuals and their hard work and tribulations, so in a way, this makes me feel like I can more properly give them the respect they’ve always deserved as developers. I was hooked from part 1 and part 2 has me so eager for the next installment. Thank you guys and please keep it up!

I was so excited to see this post at last and let me just say Absolutely Worth the Wait! The hard work shows and you've once again done a fabulous and thorough job, with an even handed treatment of the causes and reasons and interactions involved in the decisions made. It's become so common (in some circles anyway) to try and "sensationalize" the explanation of such histories, to make things seem more dramatic, or set up one personality as a kind of "antagonist" to the other folks on the team...and sometimes perhaps that's also true to life, but your presentation makes so much more SENSE. You acknowledge the struggles of the company, the teams, and the individuals, without losing focus on the overall narrative or downplaying the importance of anybody. It's beefy and complicated and long and I LOVE THAT. Thank you so, so much for this video, and this series. It's a labor of love for sure - and something to be proud of!

I remember when Nintendo went on their US tour for the World Championships in 1990, they had a bunch of demo kiosks set up in the convention center to show off upcoming games, and there was one for Final Fantasy. It played through the prologue, and I must have played is 6-7 times. As a D&D nerd it was everything I wanted in a NES game, and I was probably bothering the guys at my local Babbage's weekly asking if they knew when it was coming out. 31 years later, I'm watching this video on one monitor while playing Final Fantasy XIV on another. It's safe to say they made an impression.

Square then : Creating great video games with team full of passionate devs and designers Squre now : I realize that some people who “play to have fun” and who currently form the majority of players have voiced their reservations toward these new trends, and understandably so. However, I believe that there will be a certain number of people whose motivation is to “play to contribute,” by which I mean to help make the game more exciting. Traditional gaming has offered no explicit incentive to this latter group of people, who were motivated strictly by such inconsistent personal feelings as goodwill and volunteer spirit.
