One thing I really appreciate is how deliberately and well-spoken you are. As a retro gamer and collector myself, I find your videos to be essential viewing. I'm so glad this video was suggested to me. Your research and level of detail, as well as production values and editing are spot frigging on. And one piece of praise I want to heap is your pronunciation of Japanese words and names. There are so many people who have chosen to make retro/classic gaming channels, and naturally a lot of that subject revolves around Japan. Yet some narrators' elocution when it comes to Japanese, ranges from miserable to "lolwut?". I think it's awesome that, either you already knew how to pronounce things correctly, or took the time to research that as well. Either way, kudos, man. It's music to my ears haha.

Thank you so much for doing this! This was a real pleasure to watch! On Christmas 1991 I got my NES with Super Mario Bros 3, but rumours had spread to Sweden about the upcoming system... My friend got it the following fall (it was released in April of '92 in Sweden) and all of a sudden my "new" NES became old... Bought an old SNES some years ago and started to collect the old games and today my collection also includes MegaDrive, NES, GameBoy and N64. Seeing these kind of videos make me wanna learn more and more about the games, developers and all - once again, thank you!

Squadron, Gradius III, Sim City, John Madden Football, Super Baseball Simulator 1,000. That's what SEGA mentioned in the Classic Game compilation for Dreamcast, "there's something missing in modern games that a lot of classic ones have". It's the love, care & craftsmanship that developers used to make amazing memorable games, and not just impress with flashy 3D graphics. When 3D came to consoles there was an initial influx of crap games, both Saturn & playstation with companies trying to quickly cash in on poorly thought out and developed 3d games, Bugsy3D, Twisted Metal, Barbie, Kileak DNA imperative, come to mind on ps1 right away, anything on the Atari Jaguar sucked a huge hole in the universe,

Nice video...a few things about Final Fight...the producer of the original arcade game said that the game was originally called Final Fight, but the higher ups wanted to release it as a sequel to SF, but after that trade show the producers really felt like it was it's own thing and reiterated that to Capcom, who agreed to reinstate the original title. Also, The Streets of Fire thing is a bit tough because, which the producer does say he told the staff to watch American Hollywood Action flicks, he claims the game isn't directly based on any specific one.. Personally I doubt this, as there are too many coincidences between the movie and the game.

When I played FF2 on the SNES, I was so blown away by the game's soundtrack that I would have the game running with a tape-recorder next to the speaker. I sold the tapes to kids at school who also liked the music. This was way easier to do on the Sega Genesis though, because it had a headphone jack that the recorder could plug directly into and get near-perfect sound quality. I sold a lot of mix tapes of games such as FF2, FF3, Secret of Mana, Super Ghouls N Ghosts, Shinobe, Street Fighter, Streets of Rage 1 and 2, Valis 3 and Sonic. My biggest selling mix-tape was Donkey Kong Country. Kids were willing to buy it just for the underwater stage music. Although, I cheated on that one because DKC's soundtrack was released on CD in Japan, but I got it at a Japanese-import store that was far away from school (2 hour long bus ride) so I was only one who had it. I just made recordings directly from the CD itself :) This was around the time CDs were becoming mainstream but not everyone had a CD player yet.

Happy new year Chris and everyone who watches this video. I was lucky enough to get a SNES mini for Christmas and the nostalgia is really taking me back to when I was a kid! This is great.

you're basically carrying on where G4TV/TechTV died (around the time AOTS came out)

Great, great fun to watch this - you should be proud of it! Just one thought: you don't have to say "in my opinion" so much - not only is it self-evident (it's a video by you), but your opinions are legit anyway. Keep it up! Sub'd and excited for more.

You are right. Unfortunately, too many people on the internet mistake a statement as fact when it isn't explicitly stated, like every other sentence. I.E. Some people have the attention span of dogs and their intelligence isn't much better, either.

I'd agree if ALL of the Japanese releases had an English translation and NA distribution.

Sadly I just had a glimpse as a kid . Mega Drive was the thing in my country. But I'm enjoying it now
