Thanks for this great interview with Andy Scott. Although I was a baby when they were in their prime, a friend of a friend introduced me to Sweet's music. I thought I was listening to pure gold--their vocal harmonies and arpeggios were pure magic! Although very sadly I never got to see them perform live, I have Steve Priest's "Are You Ready Steve" personally autographed book. Although they were successful in their native Britain, I don't believe Sweet got the full credit they deserved, especially not in the USA. They were talented musicians, singers, and innovators of Britain's Glam Rock Era. RIP Brian, Mick, and Steve. We miss and love you forever!

Very nice interview. I'm a huge Sweet fan and still listen to them every day. They never got the credit they deserved, esp for their harder rock stuff. They were such talented musicians, and I want to say thanks for getting Andy on here. I've heard most of what he said before in other interviews, but there were a couple things that I'd never heard. The Sweet will always be forever in our hearts. RIP dear Mick, Brian, and Steve. We love and miss you!❤️🔥💘🕯️

Really great interview. Always good to hear Andy. Looking at some of the live footage of the Sweet from the early 70s you realise just how ahead of the curve they were: essentially a proto glam metal band. Powerhouse stuff.

Andy is such an underrated guitarist, listen to his playing on all those Sweet classics, those crunchy heavy riffs and striking lead breaks really drove their sound along with Mick Tucker's powerhouse drumming, Steve Priest's solid bass playing and Brian Connolly's generation defining vocals. Long live Sweet!! 🎸

Love listening to Andy talk about Sweet. I really wish they could have got back together as I never was lucky enough to be able to go see them live in the 70s Loved seeing Andy in that white suit and the scarf on stage back then he looked so sexy in it would cannot wait to see part 2 of the interveiw, when you do it could you ask him from me if he still has the white suit please. Really miss the other boys loved them all sooo much.

The Shadows and Cliff Richard where also huge in Australia and New Zealand. They had a massive influence on bands like The Easybeats, who where a more rocking version of the Shadows with an explosive front man version of Cliff Richard. Stevie Wright who went on to make the unforgettable 70s Rock Classic, Evie.

The "funny" thing about "the start" and "the end" of the groub members is: Brian Connelly called Mick Tucker up in 1968 and asked him to form a new band with him... Mick Tucker had been fired from their former band and did not know it. Brian died in 1997. Mick died in 2002. Steve was invited to form a 4 piece band with Brian, Mick and Frank E. Torpey who quit the band in 1969. Frank was replaced by Mick Stewart in 1969 who was replaced by Andy Scott in 1970. Steve died in 2020 and now in 2023 Andy is the last man standing, still alive and touring with the Sweet.

@@shirleygregson3058 yea, that’s reasonable advice. Unfortunately I guess Lots of the aging rockers still feel the need to sport some type of hair even if it’s store bought ha ha
