As someone who experienced that time firsthand, I would say it was a shock that people these days would never understand. Common sense at the time: You can't rap in Korean. It must have been quite shocking to see fish living on land, breaking the common sense that fish cannot breathe outside of water. It was such a shock. From there, it was just the beginning. It completely changed the Korean music industry system. It could almost shake the country. If you add up all the events in K-pop, it won't come close to the shock of "Seo Taiji and Boys."

As Canadians, my stepdad was in the Korean war, his dream was to return to Korea after the war. He had nightmares his whole life, like having to stick their hands out of the bunkers to see if there were enemies around and hope they wouldn’t lose their hands from bullets. As you continue with your BIGBANG journey you will see that their song Fantastic Baby is about the period when the government prohibited music. The concept was 5 kings (BIGBANG) woke up to save music and bring it back to Korea.
