The birthplace of Pinocchio

The tiny Tuscan town of Collodi was the birthplace of Pinocchio. Created in 1881 by journalist-author Carlo Lorenzini (who took the town's name as his pen name), the wooden puppet who became a real boy was the star of a coming-of-age story much darker than the familiar Disney film. Lee Cowan visits the National Carlo Collodi Foundation, and meets woodcarver Francesco Bartolucci - a real-life Geppetto. (Originally broadcast May 19, 2019.)

That book could only have been written by someone who hated children. And I checked - Carlo Collodi never had any kids himself.

@@WillScarlet16 All fairy tales of that time used fear as a tool to educate kids to behave. Not only collodi one but every tales was wicked and every kids who appeared in those stories was kind of same evil rascal that redeems itself at the end.
