Senshu, Osaka, the birthplace of the Japanese towel industry
Senshu towels are made using a unique post-bleaching process that has been used since 1887. Towels made by the post-bleaching process are bleached after weaving to remove glue and impurities from the cotton, resulting in towels that are highly absorbent and soft to the touch right from the start of use.
In addition, Senshu towel manufacturer Tsubame Towel uses a unique process called "organic scouring," in which plant based starch glue is used for the threads in the process before weaving the fabric, and when the glue is removed, it is broken down by natural enzymes to remove the glue.
