How insane is it that Novak Djokovic is already competing at Wimbledon less than a month after surgery on a torn meniscus??

@huzcer Your comment underscores my point! Always being compelled to belittle, mock, and continously be derisive. Your comment of "left in the dust" is nothing but hyperbole! The comparability of all 3 is revealed in their H2H' match-ups. Nobody left Nadal "in the dust" on clay when he was healthy! While Novak is definitely now considered by most as "the greatest," the idea that there's now this enormous, unbridgeable gap is childish ignorance and it just reveals the toxicity that many hv issue with. All 3 at the top of their games were very, very close! So many ridiculously live vicariously through this constant online debate of the greatness between the 3 that, any criticism towards one is felt as a personal attack. There are numerous people involved in this that need to quit getting so emotionally caught-up in the divisive and puerile "either/or" decision that they subject themselves to. How about we recognize and embrace all 3 for their equivalent and approximate greatness and stop with the "muh guy can beat-up your guy and, your guy sucks!"

@@edkiely2712 they are also-rans. get over it. Federer was a dismissively arrogant snob who got humbled. @@EweCantHandletheTruthmostly I think he just gets hate because of how loved Roger and Rafa are… so any time he plays them he’s the villain. I think he wanted to be loved like the other guys but ended up just embracing the villain role. He also used to smash rackets frequently, scream a lot, and then there was the incident at the US Open where he hit a ball in anger and got DQ’d… none of those things make people like him more. Pretty hard to argue against him being the greatest player ever at this point, but he will never be as loved as Roger or Rafa.

it was a micro operation after all. Which means the recovery can be put in context. What is nonsense was making the operation what was not I mean a very small recovery was required in the first place. Like Sinner, his team advised to give up competing in Rome but then he retruned quickly to fitness in Paris. If Sinner had the issues they talked about when he stopped, then he could never be so fit in Paris. If Nole needed a huge opeeaion that he would never be able to recover relatively quickly. There are videos on line showing how Nadal missed mostly hard court tournaments that either Novak or roger Federer were scheduled to play and then miraculously recovers a few weeks later to play on clay. His H2h records against Novak and Federer prove it if you consider that the percentage of matches Nadal played against both Federer and Novak on hard courts is much lower than it logically would be if you look at the much greater number of tournaments played on hard court as oppose to tournaments played on clay. Nadal was clearly using injuries legitimate or not to avoid losing to Federer and especially Novak on hard courts. NADAL HAS NOT WON A SET AGAINST NOVAK DJOKOVIC ON HARD COURT IN OVER 10 YEARS . NOT A MATCH BUT A SET. IN FACT GAEL MONFIS WAS MUCH CLOSER TO BEATING NOVAK ON HARD COURT OVER THE LAST 10 YEARS THAN RAFA WAS. FEDERER ALSO DOMINATED RAFA ON HARD COURT AND GRASS AFTER 2011.

While Jack Draper is a promising player he has won only one ATP minor title: the ATP 250 Stuttgart tournament. When Djokovic is injured, he is extremely careful when playing. He thinks about his every move, and this situation also keeps him grounded. As his long time supporter, i am aware of his many qualities and flaws, and one of his flaws is that he can lose focus in stretches through the match, particularly when he lacks strong motivation to compete or he feels in superior to his opponent. Basically, if he knows he can perform at his best, he can get a bit arrogant and kind of loses his grip on the match expecting his opponent to surrender earlier. He can then attempt some risky shots and make errors or having lack of judgement, that he wouldn't try when 100% focused and serious. So when he is injured, it humbles him and he is able to keep 100% focus and be at his best mentally, which is very important for his game. In AO 2023, he probably played his best tennis since 2016. In AO 2021, he performed great. Both times he had some minor/medium injuries. This is why this guy is a champion. But he needs adversity, something or someone to push him to his limits so he can reach the desirable level of performance, and judging to his round 1 performance, this just must be it.

I kept hearing "meniscal repair" from the media. When Djokovic was going to play Wimbledon, I knew it couldn't have been a repair because I have undergone that surgery twice, one in each knee. My doctors told me that the decision to repair is based upon whether the tear is in an area where there is sufficient blood supply to heal. In each case for my meniscus repairs, recovery was tough, almost as hard as an ACL repair rehab which I have also gone through although it is about half as long. It does take at least 3 months or more to fully come back from a meniscus repair. However, I never thought that Djokovic faked any surgery nor would that ever occur to me. Honestly, people are too easily swayed by conspiracy theories nowadays.

I had a similar arthroscopic knee surgery, in 1985, cutting off a piece of loose meniscus after an extremely brutal tacle of an opponent jumping two feet forward into my knee to prevent me scoring in football. I was back after barely 3 weeks, after the knee had deflated and found back its stability. It had to be inflated with a liquid to access the tissues, with two tiny cameras and cutters. After the surgery, they left me with two small tubes for the liquid to drop out. When they pulled out the tubes was one of the most disgusting feelings of my life. 😝 I always feel the missing front left part of my left knee meniscus, but no pain or any arthritis, still able to play soccer and tennis at +60. And soccer is much more stressful for a knee than tennis.

I had the meniscus operation similar to what Novak had done. I was back walking on the treadmill after three days and on the second week running with no trouble. Years later I had patella tendinitis which was far worse as every time I ran the pain would return and I had to stop. The cure was three treatments of what can only be described as a hammer drill on the tendon and then six months before it eventually heals.

@@TheTimLaraSure, I have worked as a Physical Therapist for many years and specialize in sports medicine. Think about it. For a pro athlete the injury is many times either on tape or the MD is watching the event. An injury occurs and they are being assessed before they even leave the court. Within 10-15 minutes they are being treated to minimize swelling and inflammation. They will be assessed the next day by the MD and many times they will decide on surgery at that time. They will have PT up until then if possible to maintain range of motion, decrease swelling and inflammation and avoid atrophy of the muscles. They then have surgery if necessary and begin PT to start gentle range of motion and strengthening if able depending on the injury. Many times pro athletes will have PT 2 times a day. It is night and day difference from what the typical patient would receive. Not to mention they have the best surgeons money can buy. And they are in top shape which helps the recovery a ton. 💪🏼🤙😁

actually that is no pseudoscience. It is known that all our nerves meet under our feet. There are zones on the sole which are sensible to the touch and if you really watch your body and explore the soles you sometimes can feel that in different parts of your body. That's what acupuncture is based on. It's no witchcraft. It is known that going through forests can have a positive effect on our health. Trees and plants emit healthy substances which we then inhale. You should not forget that had been our natural environement for many hundred thousands of years. Man has removed himself so much from nature and I think that is one of the reasons for the rise of all those illnesses we experience. Just one exemple: did you know that the nettle and the dandelion are 2 of the most powerfull health plants on this planet. And we destroy them with pesticides and insecticides or just walking by without noticing them. Novak is doing everything right health wise!
