League started the true free to play model. Free to play, no P2W, no buy power. this was unheard of back then.
@thecollectorsinged1133 күн бұрын
Slighty not true, league was p2w with the old runes system making climbing easier, only changed when they reworked the runes and mastery system

Fantastic video. As someone who has played League since Season 1, I find it incredible to witness the journey of Riot Games. I believe the key to their success has always been their commitment to their vision, even though that commitment has occasionally backfired-like when they initially refused to create a MOBA for mobile devices, believing that mobile platforms couldn’t capture the gaming spirit of the genre, only to later enter the market as a latecomer with Wild Rift. For me personally, what keeps me engaged is the League esports scene and Arcane. I used to play League religiously from 2009 to 2016 but stopped because life got busy. However, watching the esports scene kept me connected, and I would return to play from time to time. Then, when Arcane was released, it pulled me right back in. Now, I also play Riot's other titles as well.

Yeah it's incredible how much impact Riot has had on gaming, esports, & now entertainment. Looking forward to what they do next

I love LoL(& MOBAS) and play it since 2011. If it wasn't for free, I would have never played it! I spent $300 on LoL PC. I also played LoL religiously from 2011-2015, but life got harder and busier. So I couldn't play PC games and long matches anymore. Now I only play Wild Rift since 2020 and Riot has done a good job getting me to spend $200 on a mobile game! I never spent money on mobile games, cause I didn't think they were worth it, but since I love LoL and WR is such a beautiful and well made game for a mobile game, I've spent a lot on it.

Riot realised that prize pools being big helps a lot, because if you look at a game like Rocket League, the prize money for winning is still decent, but it doesnt even remotely compare to wordls prize pools. That and the creation of lore basically guaranteed a constant rise in both pro play numbers and regular player numbers every single year. Yeah everyone calls League a shit toxic game but we at the end of the day, those same people will still keep playing it because they know its the by far best moba game ever made, it has the best eSport scene, the best lore, cinematics and even one of the best shows ever on netflix. Its genuinely insane how smart they played this ever since the creation of lore.

You didn't even touch the whole Rito Music side and it was already enough to show how good RITO is with their vision. Love/Hate them as a League player, but they are undeniably bold and smart enough to conquer new territories. I do hope they get their shit right, part ways with Tencent and stop the whole money greed in LOL. They can do incredibly well if they hire the right people at the right price, Arcane and their music products are evidences. Great video, I hope you keep it up with the quality.

i started playing since 2011 and Tencent ruined Riot, they don't care about keep us excited as they used to, not as many game modes as there used to be bring back twisted tree line and bring back that heart pumping music for matchmaking and character select. idk man they just lost the edge, its all mostly(pay) new skins, and then if you want to be even more different pay even more for different colors for the skin, and well add new champs from time to time.

Great video but the use of assets is a lot less hit than miss. - if you are talking about Riot in 2007, use the old logo. - if you are talking about old champion releases being exciting and old lore then show old champion releases and old lore pages. - if you are talking about early e-sports, show old clips of the sport. Half the clips are on the new map and some are the old. The video is good but it would be nice if there was more consistency that took temporal differences between stages of the story and the assets displayed. Makes it look a lot more professional. Another little thing I found weird is how long you talked about their scandal. It was important to mention but it took way too long compared to how little it actually mattered in its overall history of success.

I wish you talk about failures as well. LoR was Riots first flop, along with Wild Rift. Riots learnt a lot from these two experiences, changing its monetization to focus on whales, which make a lot of people mad. But I think it's the right way. Do you want a game with very expensive skins that is completely F2P, or do you want a dead game.

Thanks for the feedback. Hardest part about these kind of videos is trying to fit everything in. I’ve been taking notes however and looking to improve with each new video 🙏🏼🔥

No offense but this feels written by ChatGPT. Even if I look over the general high-word-count wikipedia-style script, there's some oddities a human wouldn't normally make. Like multiple times you refer to the MMO as "rumored", while on screen showing official announcements of the MMO.
@gemgamingnetwork4 күн бұрын
I do use ChatGPT to help formulate these kind of videos so some words are definitely a little out of the norm even for me haha. Regarding the MMO though a big reason I kept rumored in there was because while yes it's something Riot has openly talked about we haven't seen anything yet and while it may be in their scopes there is no guarantee that they will continue working on the project if they run into hurdles. We've seen many cases definitely with Ubisoft where we've seen that happen. So didn't want to spread false hopes just in case anything were to happen to the title. I am looking forward to seeing what they put together though. Making a MMO is one of the hardest things to do and Im really curious how they plan on pulling it off with a title like League of Legends
