It should be noted Soldier has developed an unhealthy habit of beating the crap out of Scout when he's angry. It doesn't even have to be Scout's fault. If something pisses him off and Scout is nearby, the scout's getting his shit kicked in. It's why when he is told the teleporter puts tumors in bread, he throws Scout to the table griping about teleporting bread.

On a side note about the "respawn" being a thing and there being 18 mercs. Not... really? I am of the idea that the shorts and comics are two separate continuity since... I mean, you really think the mercs are canonically fighting... their exact copies? I mean, I can belive there are two Spies, or two Pyros or two Soldiers... but, we really wanna think all of them shares the same exact backstory? I think, most likely, RED and BLU members... are the same, the Mann hired the same 9 guys. They just happend to be fighting... themselves: so they just shift turns. Why? Because, despite having the same events, we can see between the Meet the Teams and the Meet the Director comic (the in-universe behind the scenes of those videos) that things are recorded differently: in Meet the Heavy where is all that attempt at interviewing Heavy about his past? Where is the cover of Meet the Scout when he's been recorded in the comic? How the director put his hands on the fighting tapes without dying? ("Maybe they edited it out" with that sleezy director? I doubt it he would take a double take) Also, we don't see, in the comics, a character interacting with another copy or killing another merc. Never. AND... in one story, we see BLU Scout, Soldier and Spy being trialed, later... the RED members recall those events. (yeah, but in between, RED and BLU merged in one singular team to fight the robots) Check that comic then: those three members aren't all on BLU. Same with Engie: BLU when he works on the life extending machines, RED during the merging. They're the same guys and the shorts are ignoring comic continuity to showcase the gameplay mechanics. Also also because... later in the comics. Like the penultimate comic, Medic manages to resurrect Sniper. "I am a god!". Don't you think that if respawn wasn't just a gameplay mechaninc and a canonical thing this would be MUCH of a letdown? "I AM A GOD! I also could have just bumped your corpse to the spawn cabinet, but... screw that." ALSO ALSO... if respawn would be a thing... WHY THE F. THE MANN BROS. EVEN HAVE AN EXTENDING MACHINE IN THE FIRST PLACE!? WHY WOULD DEATH AND THE AFTERLIFE BE A THING, THEN!?

in regards to the mercs, if you read the Catch up comic, the game is actually a Dramatized Docummentary game. also, the Pyromania update had the Trial hearing transcripts where the Administrator revealed that she has 18 perfect idiots for [REDACTED]. for the Dramatized Documentary Game, it makes sense why there is a set of 9 mercs in RED and BLU teams, instead of RED and BLU having unique teams like some other class based shooters.

So Franklin D. Roosevelt had an accident where he lost his legs rocket jumping to a second story and got himself in a wheelchair, and seeing how unaccesible America was for disabeled people, stumbles on Abraham Lincon's notes and finally invents the proper stairs, especifically for disabeled people (while he was in a wheelchair mind you). I think that was so stupid, even for tf2, that not too many functional brains can process that when they hear it for the first time. I surely didn't up until this one (already the third).

Everyone did the rational thing and planted explosives underneath themselves, detonated them and let themselves be carried by the force of the explosion to the next floor. Now this was a little painful since without stairs, there also weren’t holes in between the floors, so you might need a second of third attempt to gain enough velocity to break through it but people did what they had to do
