This wasn't them at their best. They were at their best when they released SHMC and did the High As the Moon tour to promote it and then released Amorica after that. That era was the prime Crowes no question and anyone who does obviously doesn't know the Crowes and their history. Period.

Saying something like that doesn't really prove or make any point whatsoever or opens up a conversation for debate simply due to the fact that saying someone is commercial is a completely subjective thing and can vary drastically from person to person when considering what things makes a band "commercial".

DRUGS!!! 1st and fore most. Not only with several of their other band members but between the brothers as well there was multiple issues that just about all stemed from drugs use. Throw in a Li'l ego, a bit of being burnt out from the road. Most of all though, drugs! Several band members fired, re-hired , fired again and what not because eventually EVERYONE hooked on the dope or what have you, ends up in a dark dark place where essentially nothing is more important than that high. Not the monies, not the music, not the friendships, not the the camaraderie, not traveling the world, not even family!! True srory! Been wrkn with addicts for years. Almost every single one (if being completely honest about their addiction) has said just exactly what I wrote and absolutely meant it at that time. The disease of addiction is a real son of a bitch and at some point does all of the driving and the user is just along for the ride until the crash! God bless them all though! None of them wanted to be where they were at when they smashed into rock bottom, it was the drug of choice that brought em all there.
