great interview, lots of history from Rich, the High as the Moon tour in 92 was of course incredible (Newcastle June 26), but i saw them in Milan a few weeks ago, still a solid show

Needs to retell the band's history because the only people who go to see them now are new fans who don't know this shit. Never felt so betrayed by a band. F**k Rich

I wish Rich's interviews were longer because he obviously has a lot to say. I've seen a few interviews with him and enjoyed them all. Whether he's talking about the music business, touring with Jimmy Page, Magpie Salute, new Black Crowes music, or 'Shake Your Moneymaker,' I find everything Rich says very fascinating.

I met Rich once. He was actually really nice. My t-shirt bearing the name and logo of a long-defunct minor league hockey team perplexed him, according to my wife. I was too busy asking him about the soundcheck I just heard TBC do to even notice!

@johnr.8275 Жыл бұрын
@@lateramae May of 2006, after a soundcheck in Hampton Beach, NH. We were walking back to our hotel and we rounded the corner, and the whole band (minus Chris) was walking down the stairs. So, Rich being closest, I stopped and shook his hand and we talked a little. He was cool.
@lateramae Жыл бұрын
@@johnr.8275 Wow and you shook his hand too! Were Ed Harsch and Marc Ford still in the band, at the time?
@johnr.8275 Жыл бұрын
Yup, both of them were still in the band then. Those two shows from Hampton Beach '06 are described as "legendary" on Crowesbase, and I'm inclined to agree. The next night after meeting Rich was Eddie's birthday (May 27). Before the show started, my wife and I got to wish him a happy birthday face-to-face. He was at the side of the stage in front of these cardboard drawers with his back to us, rummaging around for something, which turned out to be a clean, dry shirt. We patiently waited until he was done and said hello and happy birthday when he turned around. SUPER cool guy, very friendly, and no air of ego or anything like that. Those days were so much fun, and I miss them dearly. I miss ol' weird Eddie, too!

Of course the interview was a "nostalgia" thing. Because no one gives a shit whatsoever what this once-great band is doing nowadays, except the people who remember hearing She Talks to Angels when they were in college or at a party or something like that. Which is EXACTLY the audience that Chris and Rich are aiming for. The people like me and my circle of friends that used to hit every Crowes show we possibly could - the type of fans who made it possible for the Crowes to exist as their popularity steadily waned - have been left in the dust. Unless we want to see a "new" TBC play their first album "plus all the hits!" every single night, which I can assure you we don't. Of course 1992 and the Jimmy Page era are what interviewers want to talk about. What else are they going to ask about, Chris's stupid umbrella?
@Noise11channel Жыл бұрын
@@johnr.8275 ha, spot on. The Crowes were touring a 30 year old album and playing it in its entirety. The entire tour was nostalgia.

@@Noise11channel Oh yeah, I can clearly visualize the lighters aloft during She Talks To Angels...or is it cellphones now? Either way it's a joke. Chris and Rich Robinson running down the street with striped outfits, clutching bags with "$" printed on the sides wouldn't have been as blatant a money grab as that tour was, is and will probably continue to be.
