@preston2636 ryan knight is my idol. Brian's the master when it comes to rythm and song writing. Ryan for me is just super unique in the way he solos and plays.

This is a great interview. I started listening to TBDM because of Brandon, and then discovered what a beast Ryan Knight is on guitar. So creative and one of my favorite guitar players. Ryan's picking style is so great.

I remember first seeing Ryan when he played for the Knife Trade probably about 20 years ago in Summerville SC and having my face melted off my those insane riffs! Dude is an absolute incredible guitarist!

Played a few shows with Ryan's previous bands The Knife Trade and Arsis and was always a cool dude. The Knife Trade were a great band.

You gotta get Brian on, he’s the genius behind most all of the riffs

Cool to hear Ryan's early band The Knife Trade mentioned. Anyone here see Arsis when Brandon first joined at fantasy's in VA?

Map of Scars is so awesome! I know they have a new album out but I’m hoping they play more songs that Ryan was a part of like Black Valor or Shrine to Madness

I saw Knife Trade about 30 times back in what semblance of a heavy music scene we had in Athens 20 years ago. One time I was having a beer with him at Tasty World, and he told me his favorite band was Hot Water Music. I had infinite respect for him then, being an insane shredder but his favorite bands were the same shitty punk bands I loved.

I keep finding out that Ryan's favorite bands are all my favorite bands. Just saw HWM a couple months ago for like the 5th time. That's insane;y awesome and thanks for sharing your experience.

Martin Miller would be great on the podcast. It seems a fair part of his career is being a teacher, so I think he'd be a great guest.

its really depressing to hear you guys say things negatively about playing guitar, or living the life of a touring musician. you wouldnt encourage your kid to play guitar?? that makes me so sad man. its discouraging. and the story of hearing about your friends lives, and thinking yours is somehow inadequate? it isnt, believe me. i watch this podcast to learn and be encouraged, im here playing guitar right now. but this talk has got me way down.

Have you toured? They are just being honest. Drug problems , alcoholism, boredom, getting ripped off, no proper sleep, no money. Its not a picnic
@bennymountain13 ай бұрын
They didn't say they wouldn't encourage their kids. Any good parent would encourage their kids to do what they're passionate about. They just said they wouldn't be the ones to push them in that direction.

It’s the hosts fault he does this literally everytime, if you wanna play music for a living then m sure you know it’s rough but it can be done if you really want to
