Addiction is the response to suffering. When your brain is trying to find a solution to a problem. People, especially with immense trauma, cannot handle that much pain. We shouldn’t have that much pain. And with pain and sensitivity, comes deep empathy. I know so many addicts that are the most gentle people in the world with so much light. They just can’t see it because they’re trapped in their pain. I love this insight and these questions from Dr. Gabor Maté- How come you’re in so much emotional pain? Where did the behavior come from? What are you still carrying inside that’s making you behave that way and how can I help you resolve what’s inside of you? Not just how do I help you change your behavior but how do I help you change? We can guide you to healing if we ask the right questions. The pain is the root of the suffering and needs to be healed to break the addiction. People need support, acceptance, and connection. Much love 💜 These videos are amazing, the awareness is so needed and addicts need to be validated and not feel dehumanized

She's a pretty lady. You can tell she was a nice looking woman before the drugs. She has a beautiful smile and a pleasant personality. I know how it feels to lose your mom and things just aren't the same after that. I pray that she somehow gets off the street and gets clean. I see these videos and wish I was a secret millionaire or billionaire so I could help lots of people. I like helping people and surprising people with something they need out the clear blue. I love to do things spontaneously. I wish drugs, alcohol, money and death didn't exist and we all could still live, eat and buy things without any worries or depression. That's would only exist in my world tho. If I could make it come into existence I would. Many Blessings Skittles 💞 🙏

This is so heartbreaking. I live on Valley Forge about 30 minutes outside of Philadelphia. By that standard we are a failed state.

When I was growing up people that I didn't even know told me that I was ugly. Years later while at my job as a retail cashier, a couple of male buddies both around 20 years old or so came through my line and told me that I was ugly, so since many people have told me that I'm ugly, I must be really ugly! My cousin Shannon is addicted to heroin, and we are from near the city. When I saw the title I got so scared and sad that it could be her. She’s been missing and won’t speak to any of us anymore. Her and I were like sisters growing up, same age, our moms were the closest out of their siblings so we really were more like sisters than cousins, always together. Closest out of all the cousins. She was by my side during my addiction and I never thought she would end up suffering. I try to reach out and offer anything I can but she won’t even speak to me, her mom, anyone. Unless they enable her, she won’t have nothing to do with you. It’s awful but I understand it, being that I was a heroin addict living on Kensington ave myself. God I hate this disease so fucking much.

Why does everyone blame weed? As a heavy daily user for over a decade, cannabis is not a gateway drug lol. Maybe for the easily manipulated? Not once have I ever thought “aw crack would be better than this” not ONCE.

Then obviously you dont have addiction in ur DNA. It is a gateway. For many ppl. Not all. It's not that u smoke then go wow I think I'll smoke crack. It's a mind altering substance, its easier to take a pill or snort coke when ur not in the right state of mind & it's the situations u put urself in when buying weed, going to buy dope after yrs of buying weed from a corner isn't that scary. Theres a lot to it, just bc it didnt happen to u doesnt mean its the same for everyone

I don’t understand how her “daughter has her own life” do her kids know she’s out here? I feel like we’re missing big chunks to stories but I wish her the best. She’s had a hard marriage enduring abuse but this is only making her life harder to temporarily mask her pain. I hope she gets free.

Living with an addict is not easy. Addicts can create havoc in your home. The drug is all they care about, therefore, they will lie, cheat, steal and do whatever for that drug. Family should give their love, encouragement, and support but it's better to let professionals deal with addicts.
