This is soldier rock. Sometimes when you come back from seriously devastating action, you can't even put words together, but you have the overall sense of it. Blues is the same way. When a woman breaks your heart and leaves with your children and all your memories, you sit alone in a room and try to remember some of the cords and progressions you once knew, and since you can't remember, you make strange new ones, and that's blues.

People can't believe that I have a distinct love for the Keys and the other bands in that sphere. But this album sits firmly in my top 10 of all time. My favorite Keys album, favorite alt rock album. Still love this shit cuz it's my core values all wrapped up in a world of chaos. Been nine months since my last comment. Yet I'm stronger now than I was a Year ago now. More resilient and tougher heart but forgiving and understanding. Learning to accept others and smile and offer them my help. When I began listening to this album? I was deep in alcoholism cuz my wife cheated on me and I knew. But had no proof until Xmas ever 2019 when I borrowed her phone to call my brother. Busted. Learned right then and there what she did for two years behind my back. Ended it and paid for the repercussions going on six years now. But I'm better off now. Thank you black keys for giving me hope and keeping my hopes alive through your music. God bless y'all and everyone all over the world. Amen.🙏💖

Ahh. The good old days. Saw them for the first time shortly after this was released at the old Rosebud in Pittsburgh. They opened with Thickfreakness and was immediately their biggest fan. Between Dan's voice/gtr tone and HOLY SHIT Pat was a fucking beast that night. They then played the best fucking show I've ever been witness to at the now exalted Valentine's Day Massacre the 31 st Pub months later. Where does the time go?

Drove a long distance to get this album when it first came out because I’d heard “Set You Free” somehow somewhere. I exposed my shitty little culture void town to so much good music.
