Hé Mark! I know how you feel. Started a new 50 liter tank a few months ago (after 10 years) and had quite a few struggles with algae and worms. After 3 months or so I did a complete rescape and added co2. Still combatting the worms though, but it seems like I'm winning. ;) Still a few more months of flubenol and my snails can finally come back home. Keep up the fight, the Big Shallow is coming around awesome! And thanks for the awesome and inspirational vids! Best regards, Rick

I actually don't think you would need any ferts in something like this besides the aquasoil. I stopped using them after I got some algae and the Glosso as well as the Eleocharis are doing great. I do use Co2 tho. Why not use regular Eleocharis for the back? If not trimmed it easily grows 20-30 cm!
@MJAquascaping3 жыл бұрын
Yeah definitely does not need much ferts, just a bit of potassium and once in a while some micro nutrients. There is some regular Eleo in the back! Hope it will grow taller

I've mentioned it in a few videos, but it's very simple! The black ''hook'' is just an intake from an external canister filter (JBL e701) Its connected to a long garden hose, and somewhere in the middle is a eheim double tap quick release.

As with true algae, nutrient imbalances may be the reason for an outbreak of cyanobacteria in a planted aquarium. In many cases, the reason is very high phosphate levels, sometimes in combination with nitrogen deficiency (more specifically, nitrate deficiency). On the one hand, regular water changes are essential to prevent this kind of nutrient spike🙏🙏
