Beautiful city near the motorway so we can travel outwards easily. This is great the place for the Nottingham exquisite Lace industry. Thank you for this educational info on this beautiful city.

We never get any credit for the contribution we have made towards the war effort, nothing new there then ,

Nottingham was a strong abolitionist area & because of this, after the end of slavery, there was a prominent freed man community established just outside the city limits, on the east side of the city, & during the famines in the city those freed men gathered up food to save the starving masses, who had been huddled, dying in the market square. I know this because it's my family history, but no one else remembers, it's not even mentioned locally in black history month. I'm afraid that many gallant war efforts face a similar fate, with the possibility of being airbrushed out of history.
