Notice the WW2 mileage ration stickers on the cars’ windshields? “A” is for private citizens, B for businesses, C for special professions, doctors, embalmers, military, clergy, etc. Then there were stickers for motorcycles-M, truck drivers-T, and high mileage like delivery vehicles and salesmen-X. Along with the stickers people were issued ration stamps that they surrendered upon purchase. The national speed limit was 35 mph. Ouch!

Well, car tires weren't very good back then, and cars didn't have seat belts. It's kind of good that they didn't go very fast.
@robertansley63312 жыл бұрын
@@101Volts I was browsing through some old car owner’s manuals and realized how good we have it today. Tires had to be replaced every 12,000 miles, oil changed every 1,000. You’re right about the speed - in addition to what you said those cars did not have crumple zones to reduce the severity of the impact. Aren’t cars today more efficient at 55mph than 35mph? I’ll have to look that up.

The exchange at the 23:25 mark, between Byron Foulger and Whitfield is priceless. "there's someone trying to break into my room" Foulger tells fellow lodger Whitfield. He replies: "a man or a woman"? Foulger; "why a man a suppose, why would a woman want to break into my room"? Whitfield; "I suppose you're right".

Movies of this era almost always worked in a young couple in love, no matter how unnecessary it was to the plot. It's remarkable how bland the actors and their characters usually were. But then, this was an era when the studios tried making films that appealed to as broad an audience as possible. Something for everybody.

Black Raven - are there any other colors?
@johnstatser70887 жыл бұрын
Think AgainThere are white ravens and piebald ravens, genetic mutations. There is also the White Necked Raven and the Brown Necked Raven, separate species. The common raven, Corvus corax, is sometimes so glossy black that it takes on purpilish or bluish hues and is familiarly pointed out in a flock as "the blue ( or purple) raven."
