You do know a true black sheep yarn is not really black? The color you have for your "not black" black sweater is very close to the black sheep wool. You are cute in your quirkness. Ooh I'm so glad your back. I've missed you popping into my feed. Loved seeing your projects and purchases. My daughter & I went on a cruise in Norway, flew to the most Northern city of Kirkenes, stopped at the North pole, and the cruised south to Oslo. Stopped at many magical places along the way and had a blast. Everyone was super friendly. This was in March so it was a winter gear trip. Glad you had fun in Montreal, will have to get there someday soon.

On the plan of making black projects. Go though your stash, if you have enough yarn of a color you are not into anymore, knit the cardigan and diy it afterwards. Experience that knitting black is not so easy, a lot of light is required. Any other color, you still can see the yarn. Cleans up your stash, and black cardigan after all

Thank you! We got this! I shoot for a gallon and usually land somewhere around 85-110. Maybe making the goal so high resets my brain or something. Either way it’s more water than I had been drinking and it’s been a few weeks of hitting these numbers 🙏🏿

Your Stephen West is SO GOOD! Perimenopause was kicking my ass as well. There are good providers out there. It took 3 tries for me to find a good one. Don’t give up. I didn’t realize how much I was putting up with until I started HRT. (And if anyone tells you to try vitamins or natural estrogen, good for them that their symptoms are minor enough that they can use that option. I needed full on pharmaceuticals.) Love your podcast whenever you can make them. No worries for pauses. ♥️♥️♥️

Thank you for coming back, totally brightened my knitting time. 😁 You sound like you’ve dealt with your fair share of the mud life can chuck at you but I think you’re defo strong enough to take it, so good on you. Menopause can be a bloody rocky road and makes dealing with life mud harder, especially if you’re on your own. Knitting is one of my sanctuary’s.

Great episode! I could empathize with you regarding the car. I had a 2006 Ford Taurus since 2009. There was only 96,000 miles on it. The joy of having no car payments had me spoiled. The time came for the yearly inspection and it would not pass due to the rust on the under carriage. Now I have a 2024 Nissan Kicks. Still getting used to the dials and knobs and not using a key in the ignition 😊 I’m looking forward to seeing your completed shirt. It’s beautiful! I’m glad that you had a wonderful birthday! The shawl is fabulous!! Glad you are happy with it. If it were me, I would make the black cardigan that you want and save that brown for a different project as what you really want is a black cardigan. I grew up in Madison (west side, my dad was from the east side) and now live in Milwaukee, so we flipped. Two great cities! Et je parle français aussi - mais je n'apprends pas le norvégien.

It's so great to see you again, Sarah! I agree, learning languages is fun! Also, one of my goals is to learn enough Norwegian, Danish, and Finnish to be able to read knitting patterns in those languages. Out of the five languages I've studied/am studying: Russian, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, and French, French is by far the easiest because there are so many cognates with English. What surprised me was that there are a few cognates between Finnish and Russian as well. Your Sweet Violets Sweater by Zanete Knits is stunning! It looks like it's a fun colorwork knit. Your Go-Go-Dynamo shawl looks great. I've seen some pretty garish color choices for that project. Yours is soothing to gaze upon. 😀 I look forward to your next episode whenever it lands on KZbin. You are a delightful person.

Happy New Year! Oh Boy! So nice to see you Queen. All that has happened, happened in your favor. Give thanks to the Creator for Blessings. The Universe can't do nothing for us humans except be here so we can be here. Thank you Lord! Woman, git the BLACK YARN, git, the black yarn. You'll be excited to keep on pushing to get that All Black Cardigan done. Because that's what you wanted to do in the first place. Never deviate from that first plan unless you ABSOLUTELY WITHOUT A DOUBT HAVE TO. You want what you want. Well, that's the way I am. I just ain't satisfied unless I have just what I want. Now, when I've had to change I changed to something that I know, I know I'm going to dig just as much. It's probably because I'm so dog gone picky about everything. And I just want what I want. Congratulations on finishing the house and having your own house. My fav sock yarn you showed was the green which is my fav color. I too enjoy speckles. Love your Honey Comb Shawl design decision! It turned out very beautiful!! I decided to keep your definition of WIPS!! lol ~ perfect for me! Hahaha The 2024 MKAL looks beautiful too. My husband noticed it and said that shawl is really nice! He’s never commented on anything knit before ~ let alone know it’s a shawl!! Ha! Knitting for Olive Merino in licorice would be divine as a sweatshirt! I am a buxom gal with a tendancy to have many pills on her handknits - except for my heavily worn knitting for Olive sweater. Size 4 needles gives a lovely gauge for me and the garment washes beautifully.

Oooh! I’ve never used it but it gets recommended a lot! No pilling is certainly a great selling point! My LYS has the worsted weight but I'll see if I can find it somewhere locally to touch it.

How I have missed your quirky, sarcastic spin storytelling sagas regarding the ins and outs, ups and downs of your life's situations. Please don't leave me high and dry again, lol. Being 73 and post menopausal and you my youngster relatively speaking because of the age difference, we will always be seeking answers for our wonderful bodies until a woman herself comes up with the why's of. I have no wisdom to share except to say, "I'm still having hot flashes" at my young age, lol. This too shall come to pass once buried, lol! I love the commentary that when you are on, I can count on getting some exercise performing the 50 yard dashes to the loo because by the time your podcast ends, the laughter you affect in me causes the weakened bladders sprinkler to start. Are you worth it? Yes! You are. Girlfriend you look like me, sometimes act like me, and you are me, lol. Oh, by the way, I enjoy the knitting. I have been subscribed since episode one and will be subscribed until you say enuf, lol. Hoping that doesn't happen. Come back often. Sounded like you will stay at a place at St.Hans Haugen. It`s in the middle of Oslo. Quiet and nice place :) Norway feels like a safe place to be in the world right now . Read Dr. Christiane Northrup books. I got through menopause through her. One point that helped....no caffeine...coffee, tea, chocolate. Seriously, I drank regular coffee, the heat in me exploded. Glad you're back.

I had to watch to find out what the shawl was - it is *stunning*. I would not have guessed Stephen West from the thumbnail! I love how diverse all the things made from his patterns can be! Thank you for saying Zanete out loud. 😂I've been wondering! And serious condolences on your car - I'm already grieving my (still functional) bright green car that is quickly approaching retirement age. Grey and white are so boring, and very easy to lose when it's parked among all the other grey or white cars.

Great to see you back! My car was totaled too. A woman ran a stop sign and hit the back end of my car, sending it into a roll-over. I was fine, luckily. When I emerged and looked over at her, she was sobbing. Anyway, no one was hurt except the cars. On another note, I learned what “gradient” means from Stephen. In a gradient, you have tones that move from dark to light (or vice versa). So if you line up your yarns and take a b & w pic, you should see a change in intensity. In a fade, you have the same color family that fades from dark to light (or vice versa). Hope that helps!

I think AI found your podcast for me, as I have recently been listening to strong women knitters who gravitate toward Steven West designs. Your work is creative and I love that it feels I am listening to a friend chat, while I struggle with my knitting. You are very inspiring. Doing the thing that scares you is the only way through that particular anxiety. With your knitting and some medication at first, you will do it. But while I am busy giving unsolicited advice, I would highly recommend that your Oslo friend come here first, if you are hoping this is someone you might really enjoy long term. My life experience says that things may not be as they seem. Like you, I was devastated by the election, and with the current uncertainty about the safety of our airlines, I'm guessing you have time to think about that. Thank you for the great podcast, I look forward to more.

Sarah, this was so much fun to catch up with you!! Do you watch A Knitter’s Soul podcast? She lives in Oslo. Her name is Elo. She has a heart of gold, just like you. She knit a stunning Alyssum sweater with beads. I vote for frogging the brown and buying black yarn for your black cardigan.🖤 I made two black sweaters last year and they are my most worn. Flying overseas, the planes are really big and the flights are smoother in my experience. Just don’t take medicine that will make you groggy. I listened to an FBI podcast warning women not to do that if they travel alone. 🙏🏼💛

i love this video!! I like the idea of dyeing a sweatshirt black. Also, i'm consistently aiming for 96 oz of water a day and only making 64... i have a large body so I know i have capacity/need for a lot of water, and i know i feel better when i drink i just forget.... so thank you for the reminder. the shawl is also amazing. I think maybe if you're doing a concerted alternating gradient approach some of it could work (rather than a hard switch) but the honeycomb cells do a great job

Why is drinking water so challenging? Seems like it should easier but alas. And yeah I think the honeycombs helped break up the stripes more than a stockinette pattern would have 😖🤣

I have struggled to understand the term gradient too. Steven West explained when talking about the mystery knit a few years ago and said it is colours that are related, where as a fade is generally colours that fade into each other (often just shades of one colour). Potato pototto-confusing to me. Love your knits. Sorry you had to say goodbye to your car baby. I too should knit with black as that is what I wear, but black is no fun to knit-sigh!
