Thoroughly enjoyed that interview, went up to Bramhall Lane this season with Cov, went on my own and parked in an area not far from the away end.walked past a few home fans pubs and because I was just there for the game was left completely alone and felt under no threat from the home fans, I was left alone and enjoyed my day out.Even though I was told via the Internet that the pubs I passed were strictly home fans, I think on the day I could have had a pint as long as I kept my self to my self. No doubt the atmosphere would change if you were playing the big hitters like Leeds or Newcastle, but yes a good day out... Great Old school Stadium.. And this was a good insight into street culture.

I remember back in the early 80's , Wednesday(my team) played Chelsea in the FA Cup. Blades had no game that day. After the match i was waiting for my bus home & had an hour to kill, so i went in the Penny Black pub near the station. I knew this was a big Blades pub, so took off my colours and kept a low profile. Then all hell broke out as the Chelsea lot on their way back to the station,, attacked the Penny Black Pub big style. The Utd lads gave as good as they got in that brawl, for a few mins i felt like a Blades fan!

In the seventies and eighties all the big clubs had a number of firms, ranging from 15 - 100 blokes. They'd come from different areas, be in different pubs before the game, have different fights, some winning and some losing. That's why there's so many conflicting stories. The only club that never got beat by anybody, home or away in their entire history, is Chelsea apparently.

I remember Spurs playing Sheffield United at WHL back in 1977. This was the first game of the season and Spurs had been relegated to the old 2nd division. Before the game there was trouble in the Park Lane end, a couple of Sheffield United supporters got chased onto the pitch and ran across the pitch, one of them got caught right by the centre spot, he had his head pulled down and got a kick in the head, I felt sorry for the bloke. That's coming from a Spurs supporter.

1979-80 Bramhall Lane 16,000, D3 Sheffield United 0v1 Walsall. Walsall had to win to stay up & send Sheffield United down. 5 minutes to go & we had a pen & scored. 2 minutes to go Sheffield United had a pen & mist. It kicked off big time. Our player's had to fight to get off the pitch. Outside the ground it was war, I've never seen anything like it.

I know a Sheffield Utd fan who's knocking on 60 and really been there and done it as a hooligan and he says The BBC weren't all that and Sheff Utd's serious firm was The Suicide Squad (not to be confused with Burnley). I saw a Sheff Utd mob at Tottenham in the late 80s and they looked the part but got scattered in seconds by a Tottenham firm with half the numbers.
