When I watch this I feel great affection for each and every one of these guys. Every show I saw they gave 100%, or it always sounded like it and it still does.
@stormbringercoming81055 жыл бұрын
Wow!!! Never seen this. This had to be near the end of the original lineup. Sounds smokin', as usual. The world would be a better place if they would've become as big as they deserved to be. Saw them on the "Original Recipe" reunion tour at the TLA in Philadelphia in '02. An incredible show. You could sense some tension between the Alvin brothers though. Dave played guitar like a demon.
@timwitwer69114 жыл бұрын
I believe the 'final break-up' between the Alvin brothers was in April 86,,the 1st was after Gene and Dave gave notice after a 'poor' concert in Montreal (Oct/Nov) 85.
@andyinoregon3 жыл бұрын
@@timwitwer6911 Yep, my 3rd Blasters concert in Portland was in 1986 when Hollywood Fats was replacing Dave Alvin on lead guitar. Still had the legendary Lee Allen on tenor sax. Got to shake his hand on his way off the stage.

Beautiful! So glad I got to see these guys in the early days (1979? '80?) in Sacramento, at (the long-defunct) Slick Willy's "New Wave Tuesday". Dave was still playing his little white Mustang, and I remember the rowdy, cranked-up bikers freely helping themselves to the band's beer on stage. RIP Gene.

A: It’s about Hardline, which is incredible. B: OMG Their full glory. I read an article about this and it was supposed to be they were trying to sell and album and somehow be commercial. I guess that didn’t happen and what we’re left with is perfection. I love this.

love the interview at the 16 minute mark, tension and all. great show, all killer and no filler.
@kathysahagian74783 жыл бұрын
That "tension" might of been part of what gave them that edgy sound. They are all passionate about their sound. Much was made of that tension and I don't think they had any more tension than any other siblings with real fire would have in that position. I think the press just went with that story as a lazy crutch. The music was always more interesting than the scrapping.
