This movie is not meaningful to you yea cause you a white guy, but this movie is clearly fucking racist. Here we go again Hollywood, where the wonderful strong willed white family saves a big dope weak black kid from the ghetto..

I just saw it with my dad (He grew up in poverty in Algeria. he fought hard and finally got in Switzerland where he faced racism, yet he managed it, studied and now he runs his own company) He pictured himself in this movie and we both cried when we saw it. Very happy to hear about your guys prosperity. They said angels are in heaven, but I'd like to think they live on earth too doing the miracles and wonders of gods divine goodness through man.We each have a purpose but also freewill to choose what we do with it. And she chose something that even I might have not done. I would have gladly helped. But would have been to scared and am to poor to let a person live in my home. As you said, we just need a little faith, strength and courage too show compassion for another who is down.

for his performance Quinton Aaron should got the Oscar...brilliant , very emotional , heart warming, lovable character...at that time he was the perfect choice and this was the role of his life...he reminds me of my son, same look, same walk, same character, same personality...I cried every time when I saw the movie...I saw the movie in the past, but now when I saw it again and I saw the similarities between how Quinton play and my son... for me it's like I'm a part of this movie... good work Quinton Aaron. Apparently, his “white savior” parents never adopted him, it was a conservatorship like Brittney Spears one. They made millions off royalties from this movie and never gave him a dime. They made him believe they were going to adopt him (because they seen he had potential to be a NFL player) but they didn’t. Instead, they had him in a conservatorship to make business deal off his name. Which proves that they never really loved him, because he probably was never going to be on their will, only their children were. Even though they used him to make millions and Bullock won an oscar based on a false story. This is no different than missionaries that want to be the white savior of Black people so bad even though they’re the ones that colonized black people. So there is that!

The conservatorship was the deal breaker fasho, not even adoption but conservatorship, smh.

Wonderful movie. Real tearjerker. Watched it again last night. This movie just restores your faith in humanity. Not sure folks quite realize just how bad and difficult life can be in some of these inner city neighborhoods. Back in the early 90s, I was taking some classes at a college here in NJ. College was about a 20 minute ride from Newark, NJ. One of the other students in the class was from Newark. One day we are talking and he says to me,, "I don't think I am going to make it." I started right in, "don't say that. You are smart. You can do this. Just keep hitting the books hard, you will make it." He looks at me and says, "no, you don't understand." And out of his pocket he takes a bullet and shows it to me. He says, "There's been a lot of shooting on my block lately, I don't know if I am going to make it..."

The colour of our skin doesn’t define us. We all come all shapes sizes and shades. The only thing which matters is kindness. If this was based on a true story then this woman simply showed kindness and love. That’s it !

@producedby3am344 How is it not true when the movie is based on his life. It was officially stated that he was never adopted and he was portrayed far more dumber abd helpless than he actually was. Furthermore did they lied to him about the amount of money they would get. He was younger after all and probably didn't knew as much as he knows now

@producedby3am344 do you know how stupid that sounds like? We talk about the family who you are supposed to trust and see as a family. Its not like he knew better on that time, but that doesn't justify their way making use of him. They lied and did screw him over. He has every right to do what he did
